Visit Costa Rica! Where the waterslides are made of concrete and have right-angles!

how did i miss this thread. i was obsessed with water parks as a kid. i went to an amusement park with its own mini water park this summer with my aged siblings and parents and spent an hour and a half riding the slides by myself.

I WANT TO GO TO THE WATER PARK

water park rides where you sit in a raft don't do much for me, but those where it's just your body and you're barreling down a near-vertical drop are the most intense thrill rides you'll find at an amusement park. It's not like a rollercoaster where the car you're in may be careening down a 200 foot drop but you can always feel safe holding onto the bar. No, YOU are freefalling at 60mph with no protection, and will be for the next three seconds. Scary/intense/fun in all the best ways.

We went on one in Florida where you could feel your body lift off the slide for about two seconds.

Scared me so much, I rode it a second time just to make sure that that actually had happened.

It ain't a real water park unless you're in constant danger of being bit by a water moccasin:

This park was finally shut down when a girl contracted a brain-eating amoeba virus from the contaminated waters. She lived!

Here are the photos (I think) from that post:

Which one? Summit Plummet at WDW maybe? I need to know! That not-even-touching-the-slide thing is one of the best feelings ever.

(those pics above are just ... yuk... there's a sewage dump chute near me that has clearer water that that)

Did they just build the features into an actual river?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willow_Springs_Water_Park

It was built in 1928. Willow Springs is a sandy bottom spring and well fed lake, similar to Maywood Beach in Mississippi.

What could go wrong?

Lee - It was up in the Panhandle somewhere. Destin, Fort Walton Beach... circa. 1988.
