Red Dead Redemption

Hi guys, I just got this game, fucking finally, am about 10 hours in and mostly grinding side missions. This is the best game ever. Can I read this thread or is it too spoilery?

no, there's just those travel spots in the towns.

are you going as fast as you can on your mount? sprint until your horse's stamina is all gone w/o getting bucked off -- go hard until the controller buzzes 2 or 3 times. then hold run until the meter refills (takes like 2 seconds) then repeat. going fast is kind of a button mashing exercise :/

plus it's possible your posse mates have faster mounts unlocked.

"just those travel spots in towns" <- there are a lot of these, i.e. you shouldn't be spending 20 minutes on yr donkey for any reason

i mean, it's not like in the 1p where you can pull up your campfire and go wherever you want

right. I mean that's gotta be easier than riding for 20 min

i too found entering some buildings a bit tricky, i think it's the ones with a higher step on the front door. my man will genuinly get stuck against the step if i don't pixel perfect him into the door. frustrating.

just played this for a couple of hours however, had fun. loved the dynamite on the road mission.

PRO TIP for those early on in the game - if you want to make easy $$$, keep playing high stakes liars dice with the dude with the deed from the movie making missions in thieves landing, because he and his buddy are stone fucking stupid and will lose 90% of the time.

urgh i just can't be bothered with the mini games like that, but the poker isn't too bad though

I have not once had cash-flow problems throughout the game, and I haven't sold a single flower/pelt.

im mostly trying to get to the point where i have so much cash i never have to bother getting off my horse to loot bodies.

Do non-plot-related bodies ever have anything other than ammo and small amounts of cash?

Oh man I love the side missions, I'm always on the lookout for the next one.

I kinda feared the poker game against the German though, as I have no idea how to play poker. I just kept pressing the green button and I beat him in no time! Good cards I guess. Agree about the Liar's Dice/movie guy.

Finally got this on Friday & wow! So far so awesome, except when my brother in law managed to knock my horse off that broken bridge into a watery grave. Haven't tried the multiplayer yet, as I'm shit at free aim - I keep losing sight of that minuscule targeting dot

Also somehow managed to teleport from a campsite directly onto a train while on my horse. Good times...

Ok, lowrider stagecoach is gone, but 3 crashes during raid on fort whatever is getting pretty goddamn infuriating. This game is fun, but it is buggy as shit and I'm starting to lose my patience.

Ugh, I don't think I have the will to play through this again, but I do want to finish it out. So disappointing.

lol, it's not that bad. It's just a game. I'd probably be more upset if I were ten years younger, but these days life seems too short. Just a little bummed about it.

when I don't really have time/energy to embark on new missions, I often get into Waco-style killing sprees on rooftops. Last night, I eventually got a "honor road agent" status - anyone know what that is? My bounty was approx. 2000$

annoying that sniper rifle is taking 3 or 4 shots to kill people. i guess back in dem days...

is the reason I'm not getting more quickdraw minigames that the first challenge i got i shot the guy in the nuts six times?

i want more duels too, still not entirely sure how to do them.

i hate those random roadside robberies. stumbled into one last night, and my auto-targetting deadeye painted the victim as well as the robbers. then it turned out they weren't robbers but lawmen. five minutes later ran into another one, wiped out everyone including the victim again.

also where the fuck are the rabbits, i'm falling way behind on the sharpshooter challenge.

everywhere ledge, they're very small. noted by their fluffy little white tail when they run away

Once you find one rabbit, there's usually a lot more in the same place. I got 5 rabbits in less than a minute the other day. I was trying to get 5 coyotes yesterday so I put some bait down and hid behind a rock, and a fucking cougar came out of nowhere and mauled me to death in about a second.

you'll welcome the third level of the targeting system then, it prevents shit like this happening. but it also means you're dead eye won't last as long (as you'll take more time at first getting the right target, until you get used to it)

Yeah I got it last night. Started using the meter-refilling tonics as well, they were indispensible on the train protection mission.

I find the side missions in this game SO PLEASURABLE that I'm 10 hours in and have barely completed the training stuff at the ranch and in Armadillo.

spent all of last night going through every cupboard in Thieve's Landing to find that suit :-(

time to cheat man.

Put it on casual aim -- it makes everything better, esp multiplayer

and I don't think it hurts your 'score'

Im trying to get the achievement to kill all the animals and I have no fuggin clue which ones are left.

Im also at 98.6% and wondering whether getting 100% is worth it..
