i think this focus on "achievements" runs counter to marston's character. for instance i don't do any of the bounty hunts. what the fuck do i care? i'm basically a criminal myself. i just want to find william williamson.

Yeah, I guess it's kind of the nature of the beast with these games and their need for a compelling-ish narrative and also loads of freedom; cf Niko Bellic being all melancholy and disgusted at the world he's got dragged into but then being all "STAY DOWN OR I FUCKING KILL YOU" if you absent-mindedly punch some skinny jeans girl on a mobile phone in the street

By the way I'm pretty sure I shot Sam Elliot at close range in my last mission with him. He went "What the hell??"

Has anyone shot their buddies/guides in the game, i.e. Bonnie? I would imagine the game somehow prevents you from doing this since the story wouldn't work anymore.

I shot the shit out of the guy who accused me of cheating at poker, by the way. It was kind of understandable - on the very first hand I drew a backdoor straight and won more than 1000 chips!

i was wondering about bar fights, had a feeling they'd be included. can you swing off the light fittings? i think i half heartedly tried jumping onto one at some point, just hit it and fell off i think.

came home a bit tipsy last night and played this as a huge murderous maniac, was fun. didn't save it.

dabbled in multiplayer some more tonight, pretty good. the whole 'are idiots going to be shooting me' seems to fit in the RDR wild west world more than most other games.

That;s an interesting thought; mixing up the idjits of the modern world with the idjits of the American West, who somehow found themselves with a firearm and decided to strike it out, like in an ill-fated Johnny Cash song.

I was doing a big mission and my 360 crashed and I was like ARRRGH

Trying not to read much of this thread but I can tell yall that it took me an unreasonably long time to kill two cougars with a knife... even when I knew to shoot them first

on my sisters keeper i kept taking the wrong turns, or driving the horses into obstacles. did it on about fifth try

crashed last night on the throwing knives bit. a bit peed off because the horse ride there was fucking sooo long.

Not enjoying the Mexico part of the storyline quite as much as the US. I think it's the characters, they're not quite as interesting, the Sam Elliot guy notwithstanding. And the English character was another way OTT, clichéd, unsubtle, unfunny caricature. One too many. Perhaps he, Oirish and that Welshman we saw briefly can have a scene all being unbearable together?

I didn't find My Sister's Keeper too difficult either, once I decided not bothering engaging with my pursuers and too just concentrate on the road.

One thing I like about Mexico: Bobcats!

yeah i think my problem was trying to kill the soldiers, which was in fact completely unneccessary it turns out.

watching Last of the Dogmen on five, which isn't great but it's full of horses, tall trees, and dusty lands. must. resist. turning. xbox. on..

I actually need to get out of sterotype mexico now as it's starting to irk and make me less interested in the game.

What town/area is Thieves' Landing based on?

Just played this for 12 hours straight. Well the weather wasn't that great anyway. It definitely seems more enjoyable to play than GTA IV, just 'cause of the variety in the missions. Gorgeous though it is I think GTA looks better though - maybe I just prefer cities. Riding a horse ain't as fun as driving through the city at 120mph but otoh not being constrained by roads or traffic is grebt.

[SPOILER] The Sam Odessa mission was a bit o_O, just watching a guy slowly die in the desert. Why didn't he just get on a train?

Haven't been to Thieves' Landing yet, despite the promise of fancy outfits at the tailors. I've waiting for it to turn up in story mode, I presume it will, or am I mistaken?

it's definitely in the story mode, but not much of it. there's a couple of stranger missions that end up there at some point too.

that first treasure map is bullshit btw, spent ages looking for a separate clump of rocks in front of the hanging tree.

So far the best part of this is how I spent 5 minutes shooting all around rabbits and coyotes and homegirl was all "oh you're a great shot!"

please someone tell me that they have been stuck with the glitch where the stagecoaches just bounce up and down and wont move. if not, i am at a point where irish and i have to drive a stagecoach somewhere and if this is not a patch issue, i need to start over. in which case i will prob sell this game out of frustration. do not want to redo all the training bullshit again.

Jjjusten, I've had the exact same issue with psychotic bouncing stagecoaches, and it wasn't even during a mission. I loaded the most recent save point and it fixed itself.

i've been playing multi a little bit, and i kind of don't see the point? the gang shootouts are not that much fun cos the weapons are all stock. and free roam... am i really supposed to be picking flowers or hunting bear while 15 dudes are picking me off for the hell of it?
