I have waited about eight months for Fallout 3: GOTY to drop down to $20, and it's at $25 right now on Steam - question is, will I actually get around to playing it within the next six months or whenever the game finally gets a permanent price drop...

Batman AA: GOTY is $20 on Steam right now, too (but I'm still angry about my save deletion)

Nhex, Thursday, 10 June 2010 19:27 (thirteen years ago) link

They're doing EA specials all this week, one per day, only for 24 hours each. The Command & Conquer series is on sale right now.

GOG has the Tex Murphy games 30-50% off... all worth it except maybe 1+2, which many people got for free last year anyway.

Mass Effect 1 $5 @ steam

the most horrifying moment in shallow grave (abanana), Sunday, 20 June 2010 02:05 (thirteen years ago) link

Oh no. Steam has started a SUMMER sale. My wallet is already crying.

Nhex, Thursday, 24 June 2010 19:02 (thirteen years ago) link

the new Tropico expansion is six bucks and change, SOLD.

Don Homer (kingfish), Thursday, 24 June 2010 19:39 (thirteen years ago) link

pro tip from another board:

DO NOT BUY A GAME EVEN IF IT IS ON SALE UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THAT THERE IS NO DAILY SALE FOR IT COMING.

Games that are on sale can often have a daily sale as well.

Don Homer (kingfish), Thursday, 24 June 2010 19:59 (thirteen years ago) link

need to keep reminding myself i still have backlogged games from the last xmas sale to get around to

Nhex, Thursday, 24 June 2010 20:04 (thirteen years ago) link

Definitely thinking of picking some new stuff up, browsing through the store is nearly impossible though... it's a mess.

Is a Super Street Fighter IV PC release happening or not???

Cryostasis $3.24
maybe finally get the GTA games for PC?
The Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena for $6.79?

Jeff LeVine, Thursday, 24 June 2010 20:21 (thirteen years ago) link

Posted today:
http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2010/jun/24/yoshinori-ono-working-getting-ssf4-pc/

A little ominous, but both sad and funny is complaining about the piracy, when the game was already saddled with all that GFWL junk which evidently did nothing for them. I mean, sure I like achievements, but I absolutely hate the way they've screwed up save game files with it, and they don't even get cloud-saved - making it a truly useless, annoying DRM solution

Nhex, Thursday, 24 June 2010 21:14 (thirteen years ago) link

but yeah at least it's some indication we'll get one

Nhex, Thursday, 24 June 2010 21:15 (thirteen years ago) link

Killing floor is five bucks; I remember it from this years coint and plick... anybody wanna talk me into it?

I have been forks-style since day one (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 24 June 2010 21:38 (thirteen years ago) link

nhex - good to know, I want the PC version, but don't want to buy old IV just to see Super announced the next day. Maybe it'll have steamworks integration this time & that's the reason for the delay? Still, if they make it a deal of the day, I think I'll bite this time around.

Tempted by a few of those complete deals too...

Jeff LeVine, Thursday, 24 June 2010 22:08 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah, tbh, if it's above $10 it's pretty hard to justify buying IV on PC at this point, especially if you're just getting it for online

Nhex, Thursday, 24 June 2010 23:25 (thirteen years ago) link

the shooters like Killing Floor and CS: Source are a little tempting but i need blatant peer pressure to tip me over

ones to watch for future daily deals, as they're already on sale:

King's Bounty Gold - $10 (vanilla KB - $3.24, AP - $7.49)
The Witcher Director's Cut - $6.79
Defense Grid - $5
Indigo Prophecy - $3.39
Introversion Complete Pack - $5 (includes Darwinia, Multiwinia, Defcon, Uplink)
Bionic Commando Rearmed - $6.69

today's deals for Bioshock 2 ($15) and Trine ($4) also look good but i'll skip

Nhex, Friday, 25 June 2010 00:48 (thirteen years ago) link

tempted by Europa Universalis III complete (well, w/o the latest expansion) but dunno if I'll be able to get into it. It's SteamPlay; anyone here play it on the Mac? I've read that it's just a Cider port & so doesn't work that well on OS X.

I think Mick Jagger has suffered plenty. (Euler), Friday, 25 June 2010 05:50 (thirteen years ago) link

I'm hoping for a good Metro 2033 deal of the day the most - that's the game I really want to play (but not for full price) - though I'm willing to keep waiting.

I did just pick up Far Cry 2, Fuel, Cryostasis, the two Riddick games and Trials 2 for only $32 - loving me some steam sales.

Jeff LeVine, Friday, 25 June 2010 06:44 (thirteen years ago) link

Has anybody heard anything about the rpg Numen? I'm a sucker for classical greek games, and a full-on RPG set there seems like a lot of fun

Don Homer (kingfish), Friday, 25 June 2010 08:03 (thirteen years ago) link

Also, seriously considering paying for Witcher, which is probably the best rpg i've played in the last 3 years along with Fallout 3.

Don Homer (kingfish), Friday, 25 June 2010 08:04 (thirteen years ago) link

Steam
Ghostbusters $4

GOG
Syberia 1+2 $10

the most horrifying moment in shallow grave (abanana), Friday, 25 June 2010 19:06 (thirteen years ago) link

kinda blah today on Steam, though i guess somebody might want RE5 for $12.50 or AvP 2000 for a mere $1.25 for nostalgia's sake

Nhex, Friday, 25 June 2010 20:51 (thirteen years ago) link

Audiosurf $2.50 (always worth it)
Left 4 Dead 2 $10.50! 4-packs for $30.60!

cozen, Sunday, 27 June 2010 11:10 (thirteen years ago) link

it's wonderful how the increased competition in the last year (from Gamersgate, Direct2Drive, GOG, Impulse and so on) seems to have made Steam go even crazier and more competitive than before with their sales

Nhex, Sunday, 27 June 2010 17:46 (thirteen years ago) link

Steam daily:
Civ IV (w/o add-ons) $5, Civ IV Complete $10

the most horrifying moment in shallow grave (abanana), Sunday, 27 June 2010 19:23 (thirteen years ago) link

I've been able to ignore most of the deals by being on a Mac, but I bit on the Civ IV complete deal. Just couldn't resist.

EZ Snappin, Sunday, 27 June 2010 21:30 (thirteen years ago) link

Wondering if they're just legitimate errors or secret experiments, but some of the prices have been mysteriously going up. For instance, Witcher has gone up to $13 (though undoubtedly it'll get a daily deal at some point), the Gothic bundle today started at $2 and went up to $5 later.

Nhex, Monday, 28 June 2010 00:00 (thirteen years ago) link

Steam daily:
Europa Universalis III $6.80, with 2 expansions $10.20
Oddworld Oddysee & Exoddus $2.50
Tales of Monkey Island $11.90

GTA IV $5
Street Fighter IV $10
X-Com complete $3.74
Team Fortress 2 $6.79

Nhex, Tuesday, 29 June 2010 17:36 (thirteen years ago) link

Couldn't resist picking up a copy of GTA IV for $5. Will be interesting to see how it runs and fool around with the video editing thing at the least. Also went for SFIV just to have a copy that I can run maxed - hopefully we can play some games now, Nhex (how is that wrist?).

Still hoping for DOtDs for Borderlands, the last Red Faction, Just Cause 2, and Metro 2033, but yeah, got way too many games to play now anyway.

Jeff LeVine, Tuesday, 29 June 2010 17:49 (thirteen years ago) link

When you play a game like GTA IV on the PC, how do the controls work?

66% off all Codemasters games. time to rebuy Fantastic Dizzy...

koogs, Tuesday, 29 June 2010 18:01 (thirteen years ago) link

When you play a game like GTA IV on the PC, how do the controls work?

Keyboard and mouse or if you prefer just plug a controller into your PC (or maybe a bit of both, keyboard and mouse for walking / shooting and a controller for driving / flying).

Jeff LeVine, Tuesday, 29 June 2010 18:07 (thirteen years ago) link

As you might expect, the walking/shooting controls are great on Mouse/Keyboard, but driving and flying handles a lot better on pad. I eventually just went completely over to pad, though - and I'm sure GTA IV has 360 pad support.

Jeff - I'm up for playing sometime on the weekend. Still have problems - pain often flares up randomly, even at rest - but physical therapy has been helping, and I can play games as long as I stay diligent about taking a lot of breaks while keeping playtimes and general computer use in check.

kingfish - Numen is on sale today for $7.50 if you still want to get that

Nhex, Tuesday, 29 June 2010 18:24 (thirteen years ago) link

$5.00 for Red Faction: Guerrilla - one more off my wishlist

Jeff LeVine, Wednesday, 30 June 2010 17:05 (thirteen years ago) link

anyone who hasn't played the void and has 5 bucks to spare should check it out, fucking insane game. you might wanna cheat in the end though and i wouldn't fault you, just ration your cheating to keep it kind of hard.

anyone know anything about flatout? for $2, i might bite, and i definitely will bite on shatter at 2.50.

Quantic Dream, So Hard To Beat (Will M.), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 17:45 (thirteen years ago) link

Also, that THQ Complete Pack is so goddamn tempting... it's like buying Metro 2033 and getting 20 great games for FREE.

Quantic Dream, So Hard To Beat (Will M.), Wednesday, 30 June 2010 17:47 (thirteen years ago) link

buying shatter for 2.50, looks worth it.
