i don't think he's really producing these, though, right?

but yeah this is great. biggest t-bomb for me: "honestly asking google 'bout things that i should learn about"

love love love the beat on this one, too

That was a little larger than i expected. Anyway, I don't suppose anyone would know where i could find a tagless copy of that Boosie track "From The Bottom" that was posted upthread?

Jordan dead on with the GangStarr vibe
i think this is what i wanted Lupe to sound like?

forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 26 May 2010 14:30 (thirteen years ago) link

fuckin' age of information, how does that work?

forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 26 May 2010 14:31 (thirteen years ago) link

woah i have pretty much thought everything i've heard of lil' b so far is straight up garbage

great rapping...if he can do this why doesn't he do this all the time?????

but this song is great....really fucking great.

the beat reminds me more of "dead presidents", that sorta eerie smooth jazz vibe than premo

"How I feel? the Internet has ruined the human race"

^new board description

that next song jacques posted has a good beat but that's the rapping style of his i can't really stand the whole

"I. Say. Words. Like....Each. Word. Is. A.....Sentence."

i still feel the human race has not progressed as much as we should be
how come the human race is not progressing as fast as technology has

i've also been really feeling that az joint posted upthread with the great disco beat (that's what any hip-hop-dance fusion should sound like nnnghhh) and big krit's "country shit", which is the first thing i've heard from krit which really warrants being played obsessively on loop

new Madvillain single for free from adult swim: http://bit.ly/9DObQm

i like it but i love madvillain

kinda feel like this is one of those instances where madlib finds a really cool weird sample and assumes just playing it out constitutes a good beat

so weird how lil b hit critical mass in what seems like the past week. i cannot believe after the past year or 1.5 year the job he's done executing his vision and actually creating buzz to the ppint that, if it were to continue like this, he could actually blow which is something I used to laugh at my boy for even suggesting since like late 08

surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Thursday, 27 May 2010 02:06 (thirteen years ago) link

well, to be fair, "the age of information" is pretty mainstream as far as b tracks go

it's ok. it's no we ridin scrapers

guys, deej's review of big krit is really good

http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/14285-krit-wuz-here/

J0rdan S., Thursday, 27 May 2010 05:05 (thirteen years ago) link

a. this is the best sentence i've seen written about b.o.b

B.o.B., who seemed to outgrow rap before he could even grow into it.

b. the review sums up contemporary southern underground rap as good as that tom b piece from a couple of weeks back did

c. everything said about krit is pretty much right otm

J0rdan S., Thursday, 27 May 2010 05:08 (thirteen years ago) link

that tom b piece from a couple of weeks back did

i think i missed this?

too lazy to link it -- he wrote a big feature about how rappers can't make money -- it wasn't nearly totally about southern rap tho

that's the new yo dawg i heard you liked etc

J0rdan S., Thursday, 27 May 2010 05:20 (thirteen years ago) link

anyway, good take. the one thing i think should really be pointed out is that is seems like he really intentionally frontloaded all the anthemic dirty south bangers so he could focus on more personal shit for the rest of the album, which is a really effective construction

i don't care if big daddy kane signed your mommas tits (The Reverend), Thursday, 27 May 2010 05:21 (thirteen years ago) link

wait, i remember that tom b piece just cause he went and said stupid shit on twitter and then got in a b*hurtathon with noz over it iirc

i'm not crazy about some of the more serious moments on the krit tape, on the whole i think i like 'the last king' better. even though i like the dude i'm weary of stanning for krit too much, though. it feels like how some punk dudes only like really traditional 80s hardcore sounding bands that are really obviously just trying to sound like minor threat the best they can

django weingart (samosa gibreel), Thursday, 27 May 2010 19:01 (thirteen years ago) link

i still have no idea who is in this group & if they are any good

J0rdan S., Thursday, 27 May 2010 21:20 (thirteen years ago) link

I think Diplo likes them or something

Number None, Thursday, 27 May 2010 21:26 (thirteen years ago) link

That's not promising.

rennavate, Thursday, 27 May 2010 21:45 (thirteen years ago) link

they are good

django weingart (samosa gibreel), Thursday, 27 May 2010 21:47 (thirteen years ago) link

The Diplo comment was in jest. I'm familiar with the general ILM attitude to his recommendations.

Number None, Thursday, 27 May 2010 21:49 (thirteen years ago) link

nothing wrong with diplo's taste, it would be a shame if we ignored music just because he gave it his seal of approval, it's more his contribution and intentions that are smh to people here

django weingart (samosa gibreel), Thursday, 27 May 2010 21:53 (thirteen years ago) link

i know who PRGz are of course, just not who exactly from bama is in the group

J0rdan S., Thursday, 27 May 2010 21:54 (thirteen years ago) link

Oh I'm mostly joking about the Diplo thing. I love his beat on that new Snoop song.

rennavate, Thursday, 27 May 2010 22:02 (thirteen years ago) link

haha Lil B is playing Whartscape

Christina NAGLera (some dude), Friday, 28 May 2010 00:21 (thirteen years ago) link
