La Lohan is too skinny to be Boom Boom these days. She'd do a good Wind Dancer tho.

New Mutants pretty much sucked hard, hard, hard from the git-go, nearly a decade before the advent of Liefeld…

I'm thoroughly in favour of that (who's Roulette?).

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Saturday, 3 June 2006 14:42 (seventeen years ago) link

CodeName: ROULETTE
Real Name: Jennifer Stavros
First Appearance: New Mutants #16
Height: 5'1
Weight: 90 lbs.
Hair Color: Light Blonde
Eye Color: Blue

Roulette was born in Atlantic City, the youngest daughter of a blackjack dealer. She was involved in some of Atlantic City's toughest gangs before her mutant powers manifested and she joined the Hellions. Next to Empath, Roulette was the meanest of the Hellions. She was often Empath's "partner in crime" when the two Hellions would get up to no good. One example of this was when the James Proudstar attempted to gain revenge on the X-Men for his brother's death. Both Manuel and Jennifer were along for the ride, causing mischief as they went.

Roulette was not given much time for on-camera solo character development, but she was portrayed as a bit of a bully. She loved to torment young Angelica Jones (Firestar) during her stay at The Academy, and found many of Empath's cruel jokes humerous. Roulette also liked to stir up trouble herself, like the time she flirted with Doug Ramsey, and coerced him into getting drunk and gambling, just so she could watch him fail.

Like most of The Hellions, Roulette met an untimely end at the hands of Trevor Fitzroy.

POWERS: Roulette could create discs of psionic energy that altered the probability fields around their targets. White discs would cause good luck, and black discs would cause bad. Roulette could hurl these discs with excellent accuracy at opponents, or use them subtlely in back of a victim. These luck discs usually worked swiftly, as the the recipient would notice the effects of her power within a matter of seconds.
CURRENT WHEREABOUTS: Roulette, unfortunately, remains deceased at this time.

Dan (Greece Is Close Enough To Albania For This To Work) Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 3 June 2006 15:05 (seventeen years ago) link

Fitzroy was a guest-star in a couple of the episodes of the mid-’90s X-Men animated series (in which he was voiced by actor Jonathan Frakes). He appeared alongside Bishop, Shard, and other characters from his timeline.

Important to note that the poster is almost certainly meant to be Tom Selleck (who was a popular topic of lustful conversation among the X-Gals during that era).

The ongoing Tom Sellick obsession should be brought back up in the current books IMO

Welp, sounds like this is indeed bad. Shame, as a well-cast New Mutants film based on the Demon Bear Saga is 100% up my alley on paper.

Name of New Mutants co-creator Bob McLeod misspelt in credits:

But after someone commented on the post suggesting that he try to request a change to the credits ahead of the film’s DVD release, he responded that fellow artist Bill Sienkiewicz is working to ensure the problem gets corrected.

This reads as an (unintentional) near-punchline — did they spell “Sienkiewicz” right?
