Crawley is West Sussex, the adjacent county. It's right on the border though.

Crawley's always been in West Sussex. The Feeling are from Horsham, which is also the location of the boarding school in the first series of Gene Simmon's Rock School.

I'm guessing Alex was thinking about the Cure. West Sussex would also be Brett Anderson, Leo Sayer and um, the Ordinary Boys.

Also, my googling hasn't been able to confirm this but I think Sheep On Drugs might also be from around that neck of the woods.
