I've never liked him live.

I'm Hi, Jared Fogle (ex machina), Friday, 19 August 2005 23:26 (eighteen years ago) link

yeah Prurient did look like a arse stroming off through the crowd. I say "crowd", i actually mean "gathering of 15 people".
Emil Beaulieu was decent. he played in boxer shorts and a t-shirt. Times must be hard i guess?

jessica rylan was quality, opposite in attitude and delivery to prurient but just as affecting. home made electronics, and singing.

prurient did the high frequencies and volume that had fingers in ears, i enjoyed it for its own sake - but its a genre thing now.

i love sunroof!s sound - fuzzed up, guitar amped heaven without the ax.

a great gig at the beerhouse - hope theres more than the handful next time.

Its not surprising that he doesn't play out much in his hometown then? :D His record label RULES though. google for "hospital productions".

synths are really beautiful in this

missingNO, Monday, 8 August 2011 06:43 (twelve years ago) link

i def think this nails a certain vibe w/ more clarity than a lot of the other nu-synth stuff out there at the moment

like the synths aren't being used just as a signifier of "memory" or "loss" or "80s workout video soundtracks" or whatever but are doing what synths were intended to do -- creating new textures, opening new rooms

missingNO, Monday, 8 August 2011 07:49 (twelve years ago) link

streaming here btw

lyrics/vocals are kinda fucked on this album

missingNO, Tuesday, 9 August 2011 06:54 (twelve years ago) link

hate ear splitting music and think oneohtrix emeralds whatever tangerine dream thing is so dated dusty and boring so I'm glad missingNo declares the trend over but what was I going to say ahh yes I wanted to tell you about this interview on fact. never heard of this guy but the text is interesting. will check youtube after getting some sleep and dreams of skinny puppy meets depeche mode influenced techno made by noise guys.

Bermuda Drain, sounds fittingly like Viakal for the ears. Great stuff!

Never heard of this guy before, and I have no idea what led me to buy his album, but I'm glad I did.

The Invisible Superstars (dog latin), Tuesday, 14 February 2012 10:08 (twelve years ago) link

if you like track 4 you should check out his other albums which are just straight up power electronics

People who like this could do worse than check out the Perc album 'Wicker & Steel'

I was was pretty surprised to find all of it on Spotify, actually

that is odd! i generally assume cassette-label stuff never finds its way there

Prince Rebus (donna rouge), Tuesday, 14 February 2012 20:14 (twelve years ago) link

That Perc album is one of my recent favorites!

Fucking fantastic but I really love Bermuda Drain. I didn't really want to put this on the Vatican Shadow thread - is that silly? It does sound different. It is dumb to have two threads. Bermuda Drain is ridiculous and awesome.

I want to hug him.

kraudive, Saturday, 26 October 2013 00:19 (ten years ago) link

Dude, yeah. But calm it.

kraudive, Saturday, 26 October 2013 00:20 (ten years ago) link

vocals kill the vibe imo

'Frozen Niagara Falls' got some deserved love around these parts, but I've not been able to find anything on his new one yet? Or could that be because it's 3 hours long?

Anyway, it's called 'Rainbow Mirror' and it's pretty great, if a huge thing to take in because of it's length. On first listen (on crappy speakers, I know) I'd say it's less noise(y), more dark ambient. Anyone else on dis ting?

As indie ppl experience a moment of collective outrage as Maus + Pink are outed as Republicans, I remain curious about the widespread indifference to Dominick Fernow's promotion of music made by a dude who literally lived with the Nazi who wrote the Turner Diaries. https://t.co/PXBcd2ksOy
