The pb quality differs from cups to pieces, but I still prefer Reese's Pieces to Peanut Butter M&Ms.

Btw, people who pronounce it "Ree-Sees Pee-Sees" are total duds.

total Milk Duds

Cheese? In MY coffee? (It's more likely than you think!) (HI DERE), Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:34 (thirteen years ago) link

imo there is a point where you have had too much peanut butter and after that point it's sorta revolting - this is not true in the same way with peanut m&ms or whatever, where even if you've had too much, the next one is still gonna taste pretty good

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:35 (thirteen years ago) link

I miss Royals.

Tarfumes The Escape Goat, Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:35 (thirteen years ago) link

Oh man, I bought some Milk Duds last weekend. They were pretty awful.

kkvgz, Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:37 (thirteen years ago) link

ya they live up to their name

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:37 (thirteen years ago) link

was inspired to buy a pack of crispy's today, they have the best packaging imo

retarded candle burning at both ends (dyao), Thursday, 13 May 2010 16:03 (thirteen years ago) link

I mean in what way were they not objectively better than regular m&ms? why would anyone want to eat a non-crispy m&m when given the choice?

and yet.

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 16:05 (thirteen years ago) link

never even tried crispy

how are they

"crispy"

split bieber (s1ocki), Thursday, 13 May 2010 16:06 (thirteen years ago) link

they're deep fried

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 16:06 (thirteen years ago) link

crispy m&ms are the vikings of m&ms

I came here to vote for the mint ones they have around Christmas sometimes (in like red and white and green, with the little "m" in a pale green color), but it is neither an option nor a thing that has been discussed thus far. I have seriously gone through like half a bowl of these by myself before, without guilt.

C-L, Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:14 (thirteen years ago) link

I looked at the official site to make this list, I guess they didn't have it up cause it's seasonal

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:20 (thirteen years ago) link

I researched further and saw that Mint is one of the M&M Premium types, so I was gonna vote for that, but then I read "M&M's Premiums do not have a candy shell, but are coated with carnauba wax and color" and, uh...wtf?

C-L, Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:28 (thirteen years ago) link

My dad told us that candy was coated with carnuba was decades ago. From then on, we made a special production of eating Junior Mints and saying we were shining up the insides of our stomachs.

He also pointed out that Cheerios contained both chalkdust and paint thinner, but we kept eating them anyway. Never dine with people who have backgrounds in industrial chemistry.

this thread 4 me is like a harvard grad discovering u can cook @ home i mean mint!?!?!?!?

coining (Lamp), Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:33 (thirteen years ago) link

It is not that I am opposed to carnuba wax inherently, but I mean, replacing the candy shell with a non-candy shell is really my problem. If I am paying premium money I demand the same cheap diabetes-inducing candy shell around my truffle-flavored M&Ms.

C-L, Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:46 (thirteen years ago) link

if you replace the candy shell, it loses its m&m-ness

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:49 (thirteen years ago) link

I mean you can put a giant 'm' on a steak - that doesn't make it a steak m&m.

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:50 (thirteen years ago) link

...or DOES IT

Have a slice of wine! (HI DERE), Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:53 (thirteen years ago) link

Up until this poll I thought they only came in milk choc and peanut - guess this is a US vs UK thing and pretzel & peanut butter are in the foreign food aisle in Tesco.

this skit is ba-na-nas (onimo), Thursday, 13 May 2010 18:03 (thirteen years ago) link

voted peanut

want to try peanut butter & coconut & almond

this skit is ba-na-nas (onimo), Thursday, 13 May 2010 18:04 (thirteen years ago) link

You don't want to try coconut.

kkvgz, Thursday, 13 May 2010 18:07 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah, it's amazingly gross.

Have a slice of wine! (HI DERE), Thursday, 13 May 2010 18:10 (thirteen years ago) link

that's kinda interesting to me because when I saw the coconut ones I thought "how can that not be good? it'll be like mini-mounds!" and I bought a pack and threw 'em into my backpack but every time I saw 'em I was like "naw, I'm gonna put off trying the coconut m&ms until the time is right" and as the days wore on the bag got all beat up and I thought "you know, I think maybe this bag of coconut m&ms is just not for me" and I never ate 'em but in my heart there was still a time and place when they would have been delicious and I will always treasure that time and I know the coconut m&ms feel the same way about the whole situation too

yes in fact now that you mention it I have had need of some cold medicine this afternoon, why do you ask

dude it's candy not the stock market, the right time is NOW

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:16 (thirteen years ago) link

the problem with that line of thought is that Mounds taste like death, ergo something that tastes like little miniature pieces of death wouldn't be that desirable

Have a slice of wine! (HI DERE), Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:17 (thirteen years ago) link

they used to be good tho, they are another victim of recipe reformulation

xp: unless you like really DESPISE your tastebuds and wish them ill, in which case you might as well eat Bit O' Honeys and call it a day

Have a slice of wine! (HI DERE), Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:18 (thirteen years ago) link

also this point is an open question imo

something that tastes like little miniature pieces of death wouldn't be that desirable

man suicide by Bit O' Honeys is a pretty morbid way to go

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:19 (thirteen years ago) link

oh wait are we hating on Bit O' Honey, the king of the Halloween haul, the choice of the elite, the candy known by those who are in the know? because if we are hating on Bit O' Honey my friend then it is ON.

the king of the Halloween haul, the choice of the elite, the candy known by those who are in the know?

making lol way too loud in the office

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:21 (thirteen years ago) link

feeling so sorry for you that your Halloween candy haul consisted of razor blades, poop, ballsweat, roaches and Bit O Honeys, as that is the only scenario I can think of that would cause any non-insane child to compare Bit O Honey to its peers and declare it "king of the Halloween haul"

Have a slice of wine! (HI DERE), Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:22 (thirteen years ago) link

(btw, I mean "roach" as in insect, not slang term for a marijuana cigarette, although that too could explain the fascination for Bit O Honey)

Have a slice of wine! (HI DERE), Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:23 (thirteen years ago) link

mother always used to warn me to watch out for razor blades and bit of honeys when I went out trick or treating - apparently some people had been trying to kill kids in the neighborhood?

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:25 (thirteen years ago) link

I recognize that Bit O Honeys are objectively bad, and yet I like to eat them anyway.

I haven't gotten to try the Coconut M&Ms, as I can't find them, but a friend described them as "chocolate covered suntan oil." He wasn't a fan.

Most M&Ms are awesome - I want to try the pretzel ones!!! Voted for dark chocolate, tho.

I used to tell people's moms that in the hopes of trading up my lame-ass three muskateers bars for bit o' honeys at recess on 11/1

I wish they'd hurry up and put the pretzel ones in stores (apparently they're out and about in the Seattle market). I had a bag yesterday and I'm already going through withdrawals.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:29 (thirteen years ago) link

Okay, I can understand 3 Muskateers not being someone's favorite, but intentionally trading them for Bit O' Honey???????????????????

Have a slice of wine! (HI DERE), Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:31 (thirteen years ago) link

dude seriously & there were several of us who shared this opinion in 5th grade: bit o' honey was a status halloween candy. it had its own taste, and we thought that taste was good. most of the other candies are variations on a theme, but bit o'honey, that's honey-flavored nougat. it's like the abba-zabba that the millionaire guy in monopoly would eat.

that sounds like a pretty good case against it
