don't feel too strongly about different flavours of m&ms but would sb everyone who'd admit to voting smarties if that were an option

would gladly take this sb as smarties are delicious

voted crispy because we still have those in the UK

Based on a xhuck post yesterday, I figured this would be about Martha and the Muffins.

Wow. Just tried the coconut. They could have make this awesome by adding real coconut, like a Mounds or something. As it stands, they are pretty damn bad. I can imagine my poop smelling like coconut in day or so.

Who are these people who have Pretzel M&Ms? No one within 15 miles of DC, that's for sure! It's unlikely that I will be able to sample them by the poll closing date.

Peanut Butter are indeed awesome, but their Peanut Butter still doesn't hold up to other PB-flavored candies out there, like Reese's Cups.

Going for straight Peanut.

kkvgz, Thursday, 13 May 2010 11:57 (thirteen years ago) link

comparing peanut butter m&ms to reese's is unfair

compare them to reese's pieces and you not only have a fair fight - you have a fight where peanut butter m&ms come out victorious

that is bullshit and u know it sir

eating a few reese's pieces is alright, but eating an entire pack would be torture (imo)

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:30 (thirteen years ago) link

omg that would be such awesome torture

The pb quality differs from cups to pieces, but I still prefer Reese's Pieces to Peanut Butter M&Ms.

Btw, people who pronounce it "Ree-Sees Pee-Sees" are total duds.

kkvgz, Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:34 (thirteen years ago) link

total Milk Duds

Cheese? In MY coffee? (It's more likely than you think!) (HI DERE), Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:34 (thirteen years ago) link

imo there is a point where you have had too much peanut butter and after that point it's sorta revolting - this is not true in the same way with peanut m&ms or whatever, where even if you've had too much, the next one is still gonna taste pretty good

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:35 (thirteen years ago) link

I miss Royals.

Tarfumes The Escape Goat, Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:35 (thirteen years ago) link

Oh man, I bought some Milk Duds last weekend. They were pretty awful.

i am 100% sure that i would fucking love pretzel m&ms

very misunderstood candy imo

retarded candle burning at both ends (dyao), Thursday, 13 May 2010 16:03 (thirteen years ago) link

I mean in what way were they not objectively better than regular m&ms? why would anyone want to eat a non-crispy m&m when given the choice?

and yet.

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 16:05 (thirteen years ago) link

never even tried crispy

how are they

"crispy"

split bieber (s1ocki), Thursday, 13 May 2010 16:06 (thirteen years ago) link

I came here to vote for the mint ones they have around Christmas sometimes (in like red and white and green, with the little "m" in a pale green color), but it is neither an option nor a thing that has been discussed thus far. I have seriously gone through like half a bowl of these by myself before, without guilt.

C-L, Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:14 (thirteen years ago) link

I looked at the official site to make this list, I guess they didn't have it up cause it's seasonal

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:20 (thirteen years ago) link

I researched further and saw that Mint is one of the M&M Premium types, so I was gonna vote for that, but then I read "M&M's Premiums do not have a candy shell, but are coated with carnauba wax and color" and, uh...wtf?

C-L, Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:28 (thirteen years ago) link

My dad told us that candy was coated with carnuba was decades ago. From then on, we made a special production of eating Junior Mints and saying we were shining up the insides of our stomachs.

He also pointed out that Cheerios contained both chalkdust and paint thinner, but we kept eating them anyway. Never dine with people who have backgrounds in industrial chemistry.

this thread 4 me is like a harvard grad discovering u can cook @ home i mean mint!?!?!?!?

coining (Lamp), Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:33 (thirteen years ago) link

It is not that I am opposed to carnuba wax inherently, but I mean, replacing the candy shell with a non-candy shell is really my problem. If I am paying premium money I demand the same cheap diabetes-inducing candy shell around my truffle-flavored M&Ms.

C-L, Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:46 (thirteen years ago) link

if you replace the candy shell, it loses its m&m-ness

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:49 (thirteen years ago) link

I mean you can put a giant 'm' on a steak - that doesn't make it a steak m&m.

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:50 (thirteen years ago) link

...or DOES IT

Have a slice of wine! (HI DERE), Thursday, 13 May 2010 17:53 (thirteen years ago) link

Up until this poll I thought they only came in milk choc and peanut - guess this is a US vs UK thing and pretzel & peanut butter are in the foreign food aisle in Tesco.

voted peanut

want to try peanut butter & coconut & almond

this skit is ba-na-nas (onimo), Thursday, 13 May 2010 18:04 (thirteen years ago) link

You don't want to try coconut.

kkvgz, Thursday, 13 May 2010 18:07 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah, it's amazingly gross.

Have a slice of wine! (HI DERE), Thursday, 13 May 2010 18:10 (thirteen years ago) link

that's kinda interesting to me because when I saw the coconut ones I thought "how can that not be good? it'll be like mini-mounds!" and I bought a pack and threw 'em into my backpack but every time I saw 'em I was like "naw, I'm gonna put off trying the coconut m&ms until the time is right" and as the days wore on the bag got all beat up and I thought "you know, I think maybe this bag of coconut m&ms is just not for me" and I never ate 'em but in my heart there was still a time and place when they would have been delicious and I will always treasure that time and I know the coconut m&ms feel the same way about the whole situation too

yes in fact now that you mention it I have had need of some cold medicine this afternoon, why do you ask

dude it's candy not the stock market, the right time is NOW

iatee, Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:16 (thirteen years ago) link

the problem with that line of thought is that Mounds taste like death, ergo something that tastes like little miniature pieces of death wouldn't be that desirable

Have a slice of wine! (HI DERE), Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:17 (thirteen years ago) link

they used to be good tho, they are another victim of recipe reformulation

xp: unless you like really DESPISE your tastebuds and wish them ill, in which case you might as well eat Bit O' Honeys and call it a day
