maybe this is a diss to whomever he was complaining about for referring to him as lyrical

it's almost as if there hasn't been very much good rap this year so people are really reaching for things to talk about on blogs
― contl;drizer (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 13 May 2010 14:10 (thirteen years ago) link
yeah thats true but also
its good
and araabmuzik is undeniably killing it. no one is really coming close to him this year. and it's just great to see an old stalwart come back with great music like cam and fab a few months before

also when some guy named Roc marciano is getting hype, you know there some sort of void...so maybe youre right a little bit but i still think the second two entries in this trilogy are genuinely exciting, progressive music for this space
― surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:10 (thirteen years ago) link
i guess my prob is that i'm by nature pretty skeptical of vado & haven't seen anyone (even noz or tom b, both of who mentioned something about the vado tape yesterday) articulate why he's good or why i should spend my time listening to this mixtape other than the fact that he has a cool ad lib (welcome to 2006?)
― contl;drizer (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:25 (thirteen years ago) link
& i really didn't like the last cam'ron album, pretty much at all - it had like 3 good songs
first of all crime pays is dope.
second, i dont understand why someone has to articulate why a rapper is good. just listen to him. this isnt like a liberal arts writing workshop
― surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:39 (thirteen years ago) link
what's a vado song i should hear.
also when some guy named Roc marciano is getting hype, you know there some sort of void
why shouldn't he? he's a good rapper.

your credibility as to what would be a dope Cam'ron album or Cam'ron protege is strained in the same way that the lex calling J.Lo a great pop star doesn't really mean anything, because if someone's never displayed an ability to identify a bad example, what use is their idea of a good example?

i turned of that roc marciano after like 1.5 songs. tbf i knew going in it was likely not_my_thing so ymmv
― johnny crunch, Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:51 (thirteen years ago) link
okay i'm assuming "stop it five" is the big vado song....i'm listening to it.
like i don't get why this "progressive"
it sounds like dipset, maybe a little more like, i dunno, jeezy or something. it just sound like a current rap song.
why is this more progressive than roc marciano?

btw i actually like this pretty much, just wondering at what y'all definitions of what's moving shit forward is

xps pretty sure lex would give you a whole long list of people he considers bad pop stars, but your point remains
― i am giving you the viking of compliments (The Reverend), Thursday, 13 May 2010 15:54 (thirteen years ago) link
weird the youtube comments to that vado song i posted are all arguing about whether or not "five" means some five pointed blood star and whether that's really a blood thing and whether cam's really a blood and whether east coast bloods are real and etc etc

i have no credibility. this is news to no one.
vado is clearly not progressive. cam/vado have progressed the post-dipset/post-mixtape ny 00s sound though mostly because of araabmuzik and just by creating a genuine new movement by themselves. it sounds new. noz and tom breihan are not the thousands of people out there that are checking for new cam mixtapes and spouting catchphrases that his new underling created.

im not gonna come on here and say who isn't a good rapper or an exciting/progressive whatever rapper because 99% of what's out there is boring and we all know that.

dude honestly if you need people to "articulate" why a rapper is good before you can even entertain whatever criteria you may use for your own taste thats fuckin weird
and no one is really out there calling vado a great rapper. just simply enjoying the music
still, vado is better to me than big krit, freddie gibs, wiz kalifa, currency and all them.
― surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:18 (thirteen years ago) link
it's not like i'm looking for an essay on vado -- but everything i've seen written about him is basically "no, dipset isn't as good now, but... SLIME" to which i go "yeah i'll just listen to this against me! album again"
― contl;drizer (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 13 May 2010 19:20 (thirteen years ago) link

i'm not even sure how/why there are all those G-Unit artists listed there, since G-Unit is part of Interscope (which is technically the same company as Def Jam but generally has a whole separate roster).
