of all the references though...the degree by which they nailed the 28 Days Later atmosphere was pretty amazing.

I think the most amazing thing for me was how casually the paintball contest was mentioned (and disregarded) and then when it became a full blown thing.. from the first Abed appearance to the rendezvous point with Troy. Then I was continually amazed that the action film spiel was continually pulled off flawlessly - things like the scene where they are sitting around the fire in the cafeteria really got to me. I'm gonna stop praising this episode before I curse it :)

so is this show always delightful or only when there is cartoon violence?

Can I saw that Britta is one of the most attractive women on television right now?

Sherman Helmsley Teabag (Cattle Grind), Friday, 7 May 2010 22:51 (thirteen years ago) link

I think Agent Olivia Dunham from 'Fringe' has her beat, but Britta's pretty awesome.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 7 May 2010 23:41 (thirteen years ago) link

Annie > Britta, sorry dudes.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 7 May 2010 23:46 (thirteen years ago) link

Greatest contributor: (history mayne), Friday, 7 May 2010 23:47 (thirteen years ago) link

Annie's right up there too. I could go either way with them on any day of the week, honestly.

Sherman Helmsley Teabag (Cattle Grind), Friday, 7 May 2010 23:49 (thirteen years ago) link

Perhaps I could have phrased that better.

Sherman Helmsley Teabag (Cattle Grind), Friday, 7 May 2010 23:49 (thirteen years ago) link

The spy-chick on Chuck is up there in the top 3 probably. I like the redhead on The Mentalist also. Olivia otm.

CaptainLorax, Saturday, 8 May 2010 00:05 (thirteen years ago) link

love that this is their second dig at Glee

Gee, Officer (Gukbe), Saturday, 8 May 2010 00:15 (thirteen years ago) link

might have to watch this again

I like the redhead on The Mentalist also.

Over Robin Tunney? No way.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 8 May 2010 00:45 (thirteen years ago) link

other ref: battle royale!

Love the John mclane wifebeater

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 8 May 2010 02:04 (thirteen years ago) link

what was the battle royale ref? i musta missed it. there was a bunch going on there.

s.clover, Saturday, 8 May 2010 05:37 (thirteen years ago) link

The whole thing seemed kinda Battle Royale'ish. Esp the part where they send in the ringer to kill everyone.

Mordy, Saturday, 8 May 2010 06:08 (thirteen years ago) link

if this episode doesn't win some kind of award, there's no point in having awards.

if he wants to cry to the night sky that's what he'll fucking do (reddening), Saturday, 8 May 2010 09:04 (thirteen years ago) link

that episode must have been so fun to make

max, Saturday, 8 May 2010 12:30 (thirteen years ago) link

I can imagine it'd be stressful too, because they had to get the shots just right for the satire to work. And it's out of their element a little.

One thing I know is that it was sure as hell fun to watch.

Sherman Helmsley Teabag (Cattle Grind), Saturday, 8 May 2010 13:58 (thirteen years ago) link

Justin Lin directed it. Makes sense.

yeah troy was a standout this whole episode, too bad he had to die first but the meta-joke was basically worth it

max, Saturday, 8 May 2010 14:37 (thirteen years ago) link

I think I missed the meta-joke?

Mordy, Saturday, 8 May 2010 15:24 (thirteen years ago) link

black guy dies first cliche is all it is afaik

some dude, Saturday, 8 May 2010 15:24 (thirteen years ago) link

which one?

tart w/ a heart (a hoy hoy), Saturday, 8 May 2010 15:24 (thirteen years ago) link

its a black guy dies first thing, but its funny b/c it happens when troy is talking about how hes NOT just a black guy and obviously it sounds pretty dumb when i write it out like that

Greatest contributor: (history mayne), Saturday, 8 May 2010 15:30 (thirteen years ago) link

God, this one was so great. Was reading thru the comments on the AV Club and agreed with the sentiment that while the show uses a lot of pop-culture refs, it uses them to both augment and illustrate the character interactions.

Also, fat blubbery victim was great

WTF cat with unfitting music (kingfish), Saturday, 8 May 2010 15:31 (thirteen years ago) link

it's totally found its metier with this and the goodfellas ep. completely inspired.

Greatest contributor: (history mayne), Saturday, 8 May 2010 15:32 (thirteen years ago) link

or, rather, streets ahead

Greatest contributor: (history mayne), Saturday, 8 May 2010 15:33 (thirteen years ago) link

As I probably mentioned at some point too, this show is like the only instance where I find the blonde more attractive than the brunette

WTF cat with unfitting music (kingfish), Saturday, 8 May 2010 15:38 (thirteen years ago) link

i think it varies from episode to episode, yet another testament to the greatness of this show

sonderangerbot, Saturday, 8 May 2010 15:42 (thirteen years ago) link

Also, fat blubbery victim was great

yes!! his fat blubbery pauses

cutty, Saturday, 8 May 2010 15:43 (thirteen years ago) link

That was the guy the John Oliver character called out for looking like Mark David Chapman in the episode about the psychology experiment.

tart w/ a heart (a hoy hoy), Saturday, 8 May 2010 16:07 (thirteen years ago) link

Can we make this quick, I need to give a banana to Annie's boobs.

tart w/ a heart (a hoy hoy), Saturday, 8 May 2010 16:09 (thirteen years ago) link

Been enjoying this show all season, but the last few episodes make me think it might steal the Best Comedy Emmy from 30 Rock this year.

Michael F Gill, Saturday, 8 May 2010 16:54 (thirteen years ago) link

give it to glover, get best of both worlds?

tart w/ a heart (a hoy hoy), Saturday, 8 May 2010 16:54 (thirteen years ago) link

Donald Glover really is one of my favorite people in the world right now.
