I just cock each ear up to the shower and let the water run through the inside of it instead of using qtips. can't abide by earwax

You can clean the outside area and just inside the ear canal with a q-tip but don't push it far into the ear canal or you could puncture your eardrum. I have a punctured eardrum (from something else) and believe me, it's not fun.

my bathtub is very dirty

Guns, Computer, The Internet (harbl), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 13:00 (fourteen years ago) link

when they shut down my flushing water supply earlier this year for a month I would only flush the toilet in my flat twice a day - once before a number 2 and once after

vike me down (dyao), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 13:12 (fourteen years ago) link

it's ok, flushing every time is a waste of water

Guns, Computer, The Internet (harbl), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 13:15 (fourteen years ago) link

Agreed. You don't need to pee into a bowl full of water, you just need a rinse when you're done, basically. The different flushes for #1 and #2 people are onto something.

i got one of those bleach+blue tabs for my toilet bowl and then i was immediately afraid that my cat would drink the water. it says the water isnt harmful to pets on the thing, but how can it be effective at bleaching and also not harmful to a cat's innards? anyway, all my contribs to this thread would be pet-related and car-related, i keep my actual apartment pretty clean (except for waiting to clean up the hairballs)

roxymuzak, Wednesday, 5 May 2010 16:49 (fourteen years ago) link

on that note i am cleaning out my car for the first time since moving to this apartment (Feb 2009) and i found an entire box of cds and books that I never moved in, and a tupperware full of lunch from ages past

roxymuzak, Wednesday, 5 May 2010 16:50 (fourteen years ago) link

You have a thing you put in your toilet?? Pretty sure that's the opposite of dirt bag!

My toilet bowl is full of black streaks/specks that I think are mildew?? Weirdly enough it's not showing any other signs of erm, use, it's perfectly clean and white otherwise, but the mildew colony is going to be drawing up a Declaration of the Rights of Spores any day now.

wasting time and money trying to change the weather (Laurel), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 16:55 (fourteen years ago) link

PS: people drink chlorinated water all the time from any municipal water supply, so your cat's innards should be at least as safe as yours...?

wasting time and money trying to change the weather (Laurel), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 16:58 (fourteen years ago) link

at any rate, i am keeping the toilet lid shut 24/7 now lest he poison himself. yeah, the toilet bowl drop-in thing was not meant to be dirt bag; as i said, i keep my apartment very clean. all my dirtbaggery is car-related, and a result of pet ownership (stuff like everything i wear being covered in cat hair)

I'm actually pretty neat in my apt. My car is where it all goes to hell sometimes but I'm trying to be better about that.

My cat pukes up hairballs so much that sometimes I can't be bothered to clean them up until they have dried.

― roxymuzak, Tuesday, May 4, 2010 3:12 PM (2 hours ago) Bookmark

oh god i know how that is!

now that my kitty's shedding her winter coat, she's licking up more hair and thus producing more hairballs. yechh.

I have a suitcase and several boxen of stuff for the Salvation Army already packed and ready to go and I CANNOT SEEM TO LEAVE THE HOUSE TO TAKE THEM THERE. Granted I have no car and will have to roll/carry them several city blocks but still.

I have lived in my apartment since April 1 and still do not have a trash can or trash bags. At the moment I have been putting refuse into tiny plastic grocery bags on the floor in the corner of the kitchen. It's disgusting.

I collect my beer empties b/c you get 3kc (about 15 cents) for each bottle you bring to the store and it's only 14kc for a beer. The only problem is that I'm lazy so the bottles collection always gets pretty big before I finally bring it to the store, so usually about half the bottles have horrible smelling mold residue at the bottom when I dump them out into the sink before putting them in a bag.

a friend who's moving away gave me her huge 3-drawer dresser - i have somehow just lived for 8 years using, like, plastic bins and, well, surfaces for non-closet clothes, which caused dirtbag situation. drawers fill up fast tho. why do i have so many stupid socks

three months pass...

this thing is due for a revive

i have somehow just lived for 8 years using, like, plastic bins and, well, surfaces for non-closet clothes

I am up to about seven years on this, but my house now has a lot of shelves in the closet I have been using as impromptu drawers

I have wrist braces on both arms (lol broken wrists) so I have been using mostly paper plates and doing a half-assed job of rinsing out glasses. Thinking of switching to red plastic cups that I have a surplus of. Clean laundry sitting in a stack because folding is difficult. Lawn unmowed. I've been using those wet hand wipes they have at bbq joints to wipe off my fingers.

I think I just kicked a couple condom wrappers under my bed instead of picking them up this morning. Kind of scared my stairs have cat hair tumbleweeds. Car smells vaguely of spilled Red Bull.

I'm sad for that cat So undignified.

one of my two cats has an extremely dense coat. If not for the kitty-cat buzz cut, both of our lives would be completely miserable in the dead of summer. He is def willing to forsake fashion for comfort & his coat is pretty much completely back to normal w/in a few months.
