was thinkin about what samosa g said -- although i havent gotten a chance to check out the pack mixtape yet -- i think youve kinda got the mob figaz stuff twisted if you think its all super serious ... and L actually has done beats for jacka, like "addiction". theyre not that distant

what i dig abt jacka and hus over the jerk shit & all that is im really tired of scenes FOR THE KIDS when the first rappers i got into werent on some sreynolds style 'scenius' b.s. (well, they were, but they were ALSO strong personalities) and im really digging that theres gangster rap from rappers who feel like actual-rappers, that i follow, like raekwon or pac or scarface or guru or whoever else

i feel this, i just wish i liked the dudes as much as you do. following souljaboy and lil b youtube channels is only half as rewarding as it is retarded and soul-crushing, but that's just the flip side of following dudes like big krit and yelawolf and gucci.

on a whole other note, these st louis youtubes on the cb tumblr are killing me. i'd been meaning to check out hollywood colorz since 'set em out' was posted on yalls blog but i could never find the mixtape its supposedly a part of.

i know serg follows that stuff much more closely than i do, u should email him about it -- hes into the crunk-ier side of the spectrum tho

as far as the mob figaz guys, if you havent, i really recommend checking an album out and giving it a chance, theres def a cumulative effect thing going on ...

lol the idea that there are autogoons that don't do this. or that everything has to be about gangster rap. why can't we just enjoy jerk peacefully like one of the thousand party rap scenes there has ever been?

it doesn't stop me enjoying hus/jacka/whatever but i feel like i came too these guys too early. (like our discussion about pill/freddie actually) there is obv talent, and whereas say pac would have honed his skills messing around on tour w/ shock g until he felt *ready*, these guys have their work instantly put on the internet. you compare them to important figures and lots of these new dudes have potential but with dance rap scenes you don't have to worry about that shit, just enjoy yrself. not eerything gotta be a srs discussion for srs ppl.

this is totally wrong dude. if anything, jacka's alraedy peaked and compares perfectly well with 'important figures,' and has classic albums under his belt, as does hus. this is nothing like Pill or Freddie & ill be shocked if either of them (particularly Pill) ends up w/ a classic record

'jack artist' and 'hustlin since the 80s' are already considered bay area classics

you're finding out about both of them rather late -- they were artists who have been recording for a long time before anyone on the internet heard of them -- jacka's first record is almost ten years old right now. jacka was on the cover of murder dog 2 years ago, which was probably his peak level of national awareness. IVE been late coming to them

oh my bad, they seem like new artists to me.

and i'm sure you feel much more excited to listen to them now that you've been scolded about not knowing better. the deej approach wins another fan!!

i love the 8ball & mjg album - nothing surprising as such - though the soulja boy track is kinda O_O - but it pushes all my buttons

also love the mob trial bay area comp that deej recommended - "my 15th birthday", "sicilian breeze", "hott head", "sleep with da fishes" especially - but not so much the new husalah track that you all seemed to go nuts for upthread

on one listen the new trina album - which none of you have even mentioned o_0 - is a lot better than i was expecting based on the single.
