is this thread going to go the way of the moa-nalo now?

Sush, this thread is one of the immortals.

Well better install a brand new server to host the thread when it hits 75,438 messages and Tuomas has gone through three Suggest Ban cycles.

I always lose at these ILX polls... but I think Ralph would lose to

that is some n/l rationalizing

pretty sure Ralph wouldn't get a thorough, vigourous SBing

I find kinda funny that Viking in Sleep crew thinks they've "won" now... It was obvious long before the poll ended that more people support that interpretation than Viking of Sleep, but it wouldn't the first time in world history where the majority was wrong.

Bomb Finland.

No, YOU'RE a disgusting savage (Scik Mouthy), Saturday, 1 May 2010 11:28 (fourteen years ago) link

You should find it kinda funny, because people are being facetious with their "VICTORY" reactions. Did you perhaps misinterpret these reactions???

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Saturday, 1 May 2010 11:32 (fourteen years ago) link

Of course I did, otherwise I couldn't have made my grandiose statement.

Tuomas, Saturday, 1 May 2010 11:33 (fourteen years ago) link

what happened to you having too much fun partying to bother us again until Sunday?

man that Sierra Manhunter game seemed awesome at the time, I wonder if it actually sucks

the mom most likely to comprehend juggalos (J0hn D.), Saturday, 1 May 2010 14:32 (fourteen years ago) link

I was a Viking at that game

Pippi Longstockings (Brad Nowell's Soiled Undergarments), Saturday, 1 May 2010 14:44 (fourteen years ago) link

I never played it, only marveled at it through the pages of the Sierra in-house "magazine" aka catalog.

Doctor Casino, Saturday, 1 May 2010 14:57 (fourteen years ago) link

manhunter kinda sucks. graphics/aesthetic pretty dope tho.

also spent a lot of time reading and rereading the sierra magazine.

adam, Saturday, 1 May 2010 15:29 (fourteen years ago) link

other games I never played but was drawn into via the Sierra Magazine:

Codename: Iceman
Gobliiins
EcoQuest (eventually played this a decade later, sucked)
many more

mediocre games they successfully sucked me into:

A-10 Tank Killer
Heart of China
Jones in the Fast Lane
many many many more

Dr Casino : Gobliiins is awesome.

And Tuomas - you don't seem to believe in a right answer to this question, so why comment at all?

Sierra in-house magazine was cool but paled in comparison to the Lucasfilm Games newsletter The Adventurer (Steve Purcell comix!)

yeah it was hilarious--i was setting up the question just like whiney did, but i offered "literally a viking" first, and then she completed my sentence with option a, because that's what she always thought it was, and because option b isn't funny, and she basically nailed all the classic a arguments in about 5 minutes. my jaw just dropped--it was so hilarious and perfect.

but she is smart and opinionated and strong-willed and neither of us were about to be swayed so we laughed and she made fun of me for engaging in a weeklong debate abt it on ilx, and those are all reasons why i <3 her so much.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 2 May 2010 13:51 (fourteen years ago) link

I introduced the question to a couple friends the other night, and it was like an instant rehash of this thread, almost beat for beat.

the way the B-ers are so resolute really makes u think ... about their extreme need for stability in an unstable world

the way the B-ers are so resolute really makes u think ... that maybe they know they're right & don't need "everything's subjective!" crutches with which to parse easy jokes

I understand that point of view - it
s the same way that rational peoples certainty makes m,a a creationist and a global warming denialist.

textbook blows on the head (dowd), Sunday, 2 May 2010 17:45 (fourteen years ago) link

yes, it makes m,a a creationist too

brad whitford's impotent rage (underrated aerosmith albums I have loved), Sunday, 2 May 2010 17:47 (fourteen years ago) link

seriously A-voters - welcome to reality, where sometimes you're wrong & have to come up with all kinds of extraneous nonsense instead of going "hmm...maybe the overwhelming consensus here is meaningful"

kinda like with creationism & global warming, where the overwhelming scientific consensus indicates that while little is certain, we're certain enough that the creationists & deniers are wrong

brad whitford's impotent rage (underrated aerosmith albums I have loved), Sunday, 2 May 2010 17:48 (fourteen years ago) link

i think reality is a much more nuanced place, and that your resoluteness is as bad as dem party supporter blindly apologizing for every bad move democrats make -- sometimes the truth is complicated
