Oh man...it's getting dark. Oh, for the days of being a waiter and getting all the sunshine I could want.

Your co-worker also farts tunelessly, I've heard, so you have it worse.

You guys, I'm like Kurt Cobain here with my stressed out guts. I think down the road it will be clear that I took this fucking election too much to heart. What will I think about after it's over?? Pretty sure this could lead to a listlessness and feeling of let-down no matter who wins.

I just voted! Barely any line at my polling place, thanking u early voterz.

big louie moilolnen (dan m), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 13:56 (fifteen years ago) link

Iconic scene of the morning, a guy standing outside the zone of exclusion loudly exhorting that "If you're gonna vote, vote for GOD, and everything will be all right." I thought about saying "I didn't see that name on the ballot" but I had headphones on and didn't want to admit I could hear him.

big louie moilolnen (dan m), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 13:58 (fifteen years ago) link

huzzah! I hope a lot of people have an easy time voting today (though I'm sure a lot of people won't).

Mozarella sticks. Think about it. (kenan), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 13:58 (fifteen years ago) link

I, for one, have had enough of the failed policies of the God administration.

Mozarella sticks. Think about it. (kenan), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 14:00 (fifteen years ago) link

Voting was pretty easy at the Bezazian branch of the CPL in Uptown. 45 min. wait from 7 a.m. But the line did get much longer at around 8. That site was the polling place for the 40th and 48th precincts (i think), but strangely, all but 1 or 2 people were in the 40th.

The workers at the polling place were...special. The guy who looked at IDs said a couple of times - before even looking at the ID or his book - "Hmmm I don't know if you're in the boookk...."

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 15:06 (fifteen years ago) link

well how could he know if he hadn't looked in the book yet? he was just being honest.

metametadata (n/a), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 15:07 (fifteen years ago) link

He should have said, "Sir, at this point there is NO way for me to tell if you are eligible to vote in this precinct."

His breath smelled like he had been drinking coffee brewed with cigarette butts and durian.

good luck usa (dan m), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 16:34 (fifteen years ago) link

i plan to stay at home unless somebody with cable invites us over to watch the daily show/colbert report and cable coverage ... i've got a lot of school stuff to do this week and can't really afford to be exhausted and hung over tomorrow

metametadata (n/a), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 16:36 (fifteen years ago) link

So my boss tells me that the NYT said that it's possible that the outcome could be clear by 9 p.m. EST, which makes sense, as I think the latest that the polls are open in the east is 8:30 for N.C.

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 16:43 (fifteen years ago) link

does that mean you want to hang out and drink or what

good luck usa (dan m), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 16:44 (fifteen years ago) link

"CBS has signaled it might project a preliminary winner at 8 p.m."

xp- I'm going to be in Grant Park!

I don't know if my boss thinks anything is going to get done today, but if she does, she is somewhat mistaken.

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 16:52 (fifteen years ago) link

who's getting out of work early today? sarah?

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 19:10 (fifteen years ago) link

I have a followup interview for the possible jobby job (!) at 4, I'll probably vamoose not long after that wraps up.

good luck usa (dan m), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 19:13 (fifteen years ago) link

A Loop business assoc. urged Loop businesses to let their people go at 3 p.m.

The newspaper shows the line that is forming for the rally. Gates don't even open till 8:30!

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 19:16 (fifteen years ago) link

what is going to happen at the rally if the results are close and/or mccain refuses to concede until all the votes are completely counted? are people going to hang out all night doing nothing?

metametadata (n/a), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 19:26 (fifteen years ago) link

riot

good luck usa (dan m), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 19:28 (fifteen years ago) link

ILLVILLE!
wish I could go to the rally, but I don't know how bad the congestion is going to be (besides the fact I don't have a ticket).
probably better off watching it at home.

primalfixations, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 19:29 (fifteen years ago) link

I can't find it now, but I read somewhere that the organizers got a license for amplified sound until 1 a.m.

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 19:33 (fifteen years ago) link

If McCain doesn't concede until late, Stevie Wonder does another set.

Mozarella sticks. Think about it. (kenan), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 19:35 (fifteen years ago) link

i mean, isn't there a pretty good chance that this might not be all figured out until late? i know a lot of the swing states are in the east but if it's even remotely close, won't mccain want to wait and see what the complete totals are?

metametadata (n/a), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 20:07 (fifteen years ago) link

There's a good chance that the networks will call the race at 7 p.m.

Hour by hour guide to results -- these times are Eastern. Results start at 5 p.m.!

Why do you say that?

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 20:32 (fifteen years ago) link

i know a lot of places are saying it might be callable early but it also seems possible that it might take until the wee hours of the morning
