"Only reason that girl wear panties is to keep her ankles warm"

So good he used it twice on the same album, the other being my choice cut off Street Gospel:

Doe Doe and a Skunk

Probably the bounciest rap album Ive ever owned, also one of the best.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Sunday, 3 July 2011 04:12 (six years ago) Permalink

yeah dude I got it off your ballot, major props

bros -izing bros (k3vin k.), Sunday, 3 July 2011 04:14 (six years ago) Permalink

My pleasure, def weird that there isnt a Suga Free thread, maybe when the next Quik produced SF album drops (fingers crossed).

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Sunday, 3 July 2011 04:42 (six years ago) Permalink

there's a thread on 77 where ppl talk about suga free for a while, but his name isn't in the title -- it was started by gr80, some general music rec thread, i don't remember what it was called & i'm too lazy to search for it

dirty deathdrone boys (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 3 July 2011 05:11 (six years ago) Permalink

Noob question; what's a 77 thread?

^^ as it should be. the whole album bangs (Playaz in the Game)

black covfefe in bed (voodoo chili), Thursday, 1 June 2017 18:52 (five months ago) Permalink

yeah it's great. if you like classic early 90s bay stuff you should check out IMP (Ill Mannered Playaz). Both 'back in the days' and the s/t albums are great.

always loved the "Ill Mannered" in their name - "we've got attitude! we're dangerous! okay well maybe not *that* dangerous, but our table manners are genuinely terrifying..."

XxxxxxxXxxxxxxxxXxxxx (dylannn), Friday, 8 September 2017 14:41 (two months ago) Permalink

i never really recognized the distinct memphis sound, and i never really even got into three six mafia that much even though i used to buy every hypnotize minds release i saw in used cd stores. maybe it's because it never had an impact beyond the midwest and the south, so there were never popularized records like houston has records that came out in the 90s and have been sampled and redone and quoted from and interpolated dozens of times in houston and way outside, and the sound was mostly gone by the 2000s. these tapes sound similar to old midwest and south album, kind of... but there are similarities, the creepy nintendo shit and cheap crispness. i'm into it.

i don't even know what this mack 187 is, really. to me it could have been made in 2005 or 2015 because i don't really have any context for it, instrumentals and chants over.... i want someone to listen to it and explain what i'm hearing here.

XxxxxxxXxxxxxxxxXxxxx (dylannn), Friday, 8 September 2017 14:49 (two months ago) Permalink

maybe it's some memphis rap vaporwave shit, i dunno.

this is good, too.

So this series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TB2enM7afA

led me to search to download that World Renown track (which itself was sampled in something. the "feel the vibe" line. blanking on what sampled it). Only thing I found it on was this Dj Premier compliation: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BN2FCH0/ref=pd_mp3_als_qp_pa

There's 3 volumes of that and they're all really good. Had only heard a few of the cuts before.
