This is the thread where we anticipate the great wave of IDM reissues that is sure to arrive at some time in the fairly distant future (in pop-culture terms).

Is 4495 worth picking up?

How about the Journeyman stuff?

This part of the sentence is even dumber. (lukas), Sunday, 29 November 2009 18:25 (fourteen years ago) link

I've never even heard of them, but I'm listening to "Wuub" on YT and it's really really good.

I don't know what "YT" is but if you don't have 1194 ... you're welcome.

Yeah, this album fucking rules. Is all em:t stuff this good?!?

Without Curves, I would feel deflated. I like Curves. They are best. (Stevie D), Tuesday, 22 December 2009 04:50 (fourteen years ago) link

I don't know if this is cool or not, but I found all of the main em:t comps on some page. the m3g4upl04d links still work. I feel like good music should be heard, and these things are impossible to buy from the people who paid for them to be made (basically just a bunch of collectors selling them for $150 a pop). If anyone takes offense to this, I'll request a mod to remove it. I haven't listened to them yet, so apologies if they sound like shit.

Can I bear to part with all my em:t stuff? For the prices I'm seeing on eBay, probably.

You guys! There's all this new(ish?) Woob material for sale at http://woob.bandcamp.com/

Yeah, so that's not really an accurate description of Time Recordings. The reason they're so expensive on the secondhand market is because they all went out of print over a decade ago, and there weren't very many pressed to begin with.

That new Woob track is wonderful. I hope an album follows.

I meant no slight against Time Recordings. I know they've been gone, I just used some strange syntax I guess. I'm just saying, the only way to get physical copies now is to pay eBay types (who had nothing to do with the production of the albums) a lot of money.

I really like the new Woob track, too.

one year passes...

So this past December Woob released a different mix of 1194 using alternate takes recorded contemporaneously with the original album, and it's called Lost 1194:

http://woob.bandcamp.com/album/lost-1194

The differences are subtle (except for a certain sample that those familiar with the album will surely miss) but it's interesting.

He's been quite active since rebooting the project - there's a new mini lp out (an epilogue to an album that doesn't exist yet) which will only be available for a limited time: https://woob.bandcamp.com/album/light-and-levitation-epilogue

Can one of those labels like Type that keeps repressing classic 90s ambient repress 1194 please!!

four years pass...

Hi All,

It’s coming up on the 10 year anniversary of the Woob reboot but unfortunately there’s little cause for celebration here at Woob HQ as a big part of my life, my friend, love and companion - Sarah recently passed a way after a short illness. Her life tragically cut short just halfway through, she will be greatly missed.

Some of you may know of her as Sarah Air. Behind the scenes she was a big influence on the world of Woob and was instrumental to the reboot happening back in 2009/10. She also made sure physical editions continued in 2015 when I got major Post Office burn out! Sarah was an inspiration to the sound of Woob, most notably with ‘Have Landed’ but more recently she inspired the two ‘New Program’ albums and as an 80s kid, like myself, she was an influential sounding board on Overrun Exe.

Most importantly though she was a loving mother to our two young children who will miss her immensely.

Before she passed we discussed a commemorative album of Woob tracks she loved/inspired. A way she could live on through the music. This will hopefully see a vinyl release sometime next year when I feel able to tackle it.

As a very private person it has been difficult to share this information but as my music is so influenced by my environment I thought it important.

New future releases... as a now single dad with two mini Woob mouths to feed! I am having to force myself to carry on...
a beat based album was due earlier this year but obviously It didn’t get finished however there is a chill companion album almost ready to go which will be released imminently that includes previously unreleased (on download) tracks plus some other stuff. Also as Sarah was such a big influence on the 2nd ‘New Program’ album スリープ 研究 プログラム it’s getting a permanent Isometric release as of today.

Thanks everyone for your support.

Aw, that's terrible news. The second era of Woob has some fantastic albums, hope he's all right. RIP Sarah.
