I always thought it was strange that Weird Al parodied two of these on the same album - and both were parodies of the cover versions. I think "Mony Mony" and "I Think We're Alone Now" charted around the same time, so that makes sense.

Joan Jett's "Hanky Panky" is the best. Followed by The Bangles' Hazy Shade Of Winter!

The original Tommy James and the Shondells version, seemingly.

The Cellophane Symphony title track is even more far out than "Crimson and Clover"!

Wow, I gotta get Cellophane Symphony, then, if just to hear that song!!! I do have the Crimson and Clover LP--not that strong as a whole album, I don't think.

Joan Jett. I luff Billy Idol, but "Mony Mony" reminds me of every wedding, prom, sweet 16, whathaveyou. I can't separate the song from the memories.

Joan Jett, by a country mile. Thouugh the Tiffany cover was a lot better than her cover of "I Saw (Him) Standing There."
