Has anyone heard "I, Thighpaulsandra" yet?

I got this on 2LP but it does not have that song, still over 100 minutes long. Haven't formed much of an impression yet.

I mean is this album radically different to NWW or is it just another thing I can get round to hearing eventually?

Right now, Optical Black sounds like the most ominous, monstrous music going. Listening to it is like watching the shadows of slowly descending spacecraft.

Optical Black, man. It's pretty much perfect. And it ain't even the best track on the album (probably). Speaking of which, if the album was just Disc 1 and "Terrible" from Disc 2 instead of "Abuse Foundation IV" (with an option of throwing in "We, The Descending" or "Home Butt Club" as well) you'd actually have one of the 5 best albums of the decade, IMO. And the cut-offs would still form a superb record in their own right. Thighpaulsandra is/was a genius. I need to get his other albums. That barely anyone else on ILM has heard OF this let alone heard it is deeply saddening for me.

Fuck it, this is going in my decade-end top 5 anyway. Maybe even top 3.

NV was asking upthread how this compares to NWW, I'm also curious if it is similar to Thighpaulsandra's work with Coil?

If you're thinking about the long epic trancey synth pieces of the Musick To Play In The Dark volumes, no it's not very similar (which was kind of a bummer for me). This record is a lot more complex, and reminds me of the weirder moments on the Black Light District album. Worthwhile, just don't go into it expecting stuff like those Coil pieces, or Time Machines, or Queens Of The Circulating Library (all of which feature TPS prominently).

It's Going All Over The Floor presents itself as a terse meeting between dance, ambient, abstraction and improvisation. The Latent Black Path Of Summons Served proceeds in a tense energy field where random elements bounce around until locking into a fourth world pattern designed to fall into a dense mass of ecstatic noise. Boots with Wings is classic Lewis - a pop tune from the other side of the mind.

UUUU is a schizophrenic seething/soothing masterpiece of a past/present hybrid equally at home in the club, the home and the mind.

It is truly an honor for us to announce the release of URUK.
This remarkable new musical endeavor is a joint effort by Massimo Pupillo (Zu, Triple Sun) and Thighpaulsandra (Coil).
