Makes me think- are XXL/(Are the Source still going?) really covering regional rap? I'd love to see a regular column written by dudes in the know about various scenes and what is big in [this or that place] while I hate reading blog shit as I cannot tell the difference between them, bar the very cream of the crop (cocaine blunts then...). Are there any trust worthy writers who are easy to follow talking about just [this or that place]? Everything is kinda a blur right now.

i wouldn't read anything in xxl -- it's completely geared towards staying afloat and thus follows trends/movements & their popularity instead of tracing them out on a musical level while they are on the cusp of happening

fair enough, i haven't picked up a copy of either in... about 3 or 4 years now? I think the last copy I bought was the lol kingdom come jay-z comeback issue.

i pretty much rely on this thread -- don't read any blogs besides noz's tumblr (aside from shit like digital dripped or traps n trunks that just post music)

ya rap blogs have the lowest word-counts per post of, like, any other music blogs on the internet. i doubt dudes at dgb or trapsntrunks even listen to all the music they dump on their sites.

cricketz is good, doesn't really surprise me that it did well on jukebox considering the scores that other jerk stuff has gotten

it's cool that they were able to make 2 gimmick tracks -- the use of crickets as the hook of the hook is pretty dope, as is just going "yadada new boys/ yadada skinny jeans" -- they're like dj unk but better (and of course that's a compliment)

OTM. as someone who likes rap but listens to mostly indie/metal, i thought Tom's article was solid

It would be nice is P4k got deej or someone to keep a closer eye on hip-hop, or specific regional scenes, but what can you do.

I've been trying to get on with them for like two years now with no luck.

no, the article was solid, a good summary for those not following the convo, and i don't think a p4k writer needs ethically to be part of that convo in order to summarize it for his readers, but noz is justified in his crackaz is biters steez nonetheless, esp. if t.b. is fishing around for attention on the strength of it.

yeah, tom's original tweet was kind of desperate, but i know the feeling

like, when i spent 4+ hours writing a blog post about drake that was informed by months of internal thought, i was kind of disappointed when it only got 6 comments
