Last March I had a ten-day stretch where I couldn't ride because of a calf injury*, this March I've had an eleven-day stretch where I couldn't ride because of tonsilitis. A cursed month.

March 2010 = 988 miles (1590km)

March will probably be my highest mileage of the year as I focused on climbing and endurance rides for most of the month.

Took a week off for rest (eh, was out of town on travel)

Jan-Apr 2010: 2,864 miles

My year to date is rubbish - 1,109 miles to the end of april, which is between 250 and 300 miles each month (v cold Jan and Feb, and away for three weeks straddling March and April), with zero long rides. So my fitness is okay but my stamina is no doubt gone and I'm just treading water. Am envious/scared of most of your accounts.

That's a big drop-off compared to last month and considerably less than I managed last year. I've got so much work on at the moment that it's difficult to fit much riding in, which is frustrating. It's going to be even worse for the next month or so - I might end up racing on Saturdays and doing no other riding at all, surely not a great idea.

Bigger month than expected (training plan is 10-12 hours/week) mostly due to a 120 mile competitive group ride ("NOTE: NOT A RACE") and bringing my bike with me on a 5 day vacation.

May: 388 miles, almost all commuting. Meh.

June 2010: 281.8 miles (June 2009: 272.5 miles).

Six-month total: 1,765.8 (2009: 1,624)

Not a great month because I've got so much work on. Still, only about another ten days of the insane workathon to get through and then life should return to normal.

I'm still well short of NYC. Currently about 100 miles short of Newfoundland, floundering in the Atlantic.

July - finally made 500 miles (503 to be exact).

23 July - 20 Aug = 557 miles in 29 days
That'll be my peak for the year. Sadly my monthly total for August won't be anything like as high with the return to work denting my riding time. Annoying that my lengthy holiday has coincided with lengthy shit weather in Britain.

August 2010: 449.9 miles (August 2009: 486 miles)

Back to work and crap weather in September, so the miles have dropped off.

Still comfortably ahead of last year, but my target of 4,000 miles for the year is looking unlikely now.

Half-term holiday week just finished and got over 160 miles in to bump up this month's total.

yeah basically. went out on friday night (when we got 8in) and it was frikkin brutal (not cold, just slow-going). took ages to get anywhere, and wrestling the bike made it feel like i'd been beaten up by the time i got home.

started this year off well with 45 mins of rollers as jetlag had me awake at 5am.

3,893 miles for 2010. Pretty disappointing. I'd have broken last year's (just over 4,000) easily without accidents & resultant injuries but you can't really say that.

December was another hopeless month: officially ( http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/uk/2010/december.html ) the coldest December for 100 years, snow and ice making it impossible to cycle for large chunks, and then a horrible cough-virus-fever thing which I'm only just starting to shake off. First decent month of the year, not that it's done me any good in races. I seem to have improved my endurance at the expense of any speed.

378 miles for me. Also discovered I'd been overestimating my (current, extended) preferred route to work by 0.8 miles, so have taken 15 miles off both March and February in penance.

I'm certainly in decent form over shortish distances for my first two fun rides of the year in April, but I've got to start putting in the weekend miles to get the stamina up.

I don't commute (I live so close to where I work it's easier to walk) or do any really short rides. Most weeks I'm too busy with work and childcare to fit in more than two rides (including races) so I know in advance that my monthly total won't change today (unless I get the sack).
My month was made up of: 29, 71, 27, 16, 31, 41, 32, 38, 24, 35 and 28.

Finally calculated it - March was 334 miles for me

Gbx does Hurricane mtn Rd still exist because I did that in 1990 and it was steep.

The best thing about eastern mtns was that 'wtf is a switchback' spirit.

i've got big-boy gears on my road bike (53/39 up front and i think the biggest cog is 25t?) and that was fine in minnesota and really not that fine out here. tryna decide if i should just flip the road bike and put the money into my heavy but dependable cross check

I'm not even on 500 for the year yet. Fucking knee. Still no hills. Manage maybe 40 a week at the moment - about 10-15 commuting and then maybe 25 at the weekend pulling the trailer normally.

Sort of off topic, but affecting my bike attitude is the Broeckx thing, which is so sad, and really close to home. Was so hoping they wouldn't need to craney him, which I am guessing was the pressure reduction. I was trying to get Dutch news and Google's translation rendered the headline to be "Broeckx undergoes double lobotomy" and I was just "!!!!??"

164 for June. Not even on 1,000 for the year yet. I did kick a football at physio for the first time this morning though, and that felt good, and did 25 miles with some steady climbing yesterday morning at a decent tempo. I'm getting there.

I did 302 for September. Only just realised that the month has changed: I wasn't able to ride for more than two weeks because of illness and stuff. Back out today and felt substantially less fit already.
