I don't know who Dougie Vipond is.

I am keeping an eye open for Wendy Craig, but no luck yet.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 16:33 (nineteen years ago) link

hey 57 7th, was he weaving around and carrying a nearly empty bottle of Jack? This is how I picture him.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 16:42 (nineteen years ago) link

Ha ha, I would've liked to have seen him that way too, but he was as business as he could be, fitting suit, sculpted hair, etc. He could have given a policy speech the way he looked.

57 7th (calstars), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 16:46 (nineteen years ago) link

dougie vipond is on "sportscene" or some other kind of "football" programme.

he used to drum, with deacon blue, and I assume PF is intending a "ricky ross" or, at least, I hope he is.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 16:47 (nineteen years ago) link

I saw Todd Trainer at Linens n Things.

The winner.

Formerly Lee G (Formerly Lee G), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 17:30 (nineteen years ago) link

Cor, all the 'minor' players in Scottish bands go on to great things, don't they? I am thinking of the Commotion. There must be others.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 28 October 2004 07:37 (nineteen years ago) link

RJG: I was thinking of the one that (who) died.

the bluefox, Thursday, 28 October 2004 11:22 (nineteen years ago) link

... who used to be my landlord

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 28 October 2004 11:24 (nineteen years ago) link

I just saw OMG WTF Ned Raggett walking down Sunset Blvd swinging an Amoeba bag.

Remy (x Jeremy), Saturday, 30 October 2004 17:45 (nineteen years ago) link

SWINGING it!

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 30 October 2004 23:49 (nineteen years ago) link

bnw (bnw), Saturday, 30 October 2004 23:54 (nineteen years ago) link

two weeks pass...
So I try to limit myself on this thread, but I did spot Lindsay L0han at the Argyle (adam, I think you know the place) dancing with.. me! This girl has an 8-head. I don't think I've ever encountered someone quite so pretty! Count me deeply in love...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 10:46 (nineteen years ago) link

i saw BEZ getting money out of the HSBC cashpoint at the tottenham court road end of oxford street, his eyes were like SAUCERS. then we were sat next to unidentifiable band from detroit (i think) who are supporting keane (?) in bradleys.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 11:17 (nineteen years ago) link

Neil M0rrissey in bistro-type place in Crouch End, London on Saturday.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 11:42 (nineteen years ago) link

bez has the craziest eyes i've ever seen, i think. he's completely unhinged!

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 12:01 (nineteen years ago) link

I met Bez once and his eyes were going in different directions. He said he liked my dress, but I'm not totally sure I should take it as a compliament.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 12:08 (nineteen years ago) link

Bez is also vile and appalling.

the bellefox, Tuesday, 16 November 2004 13:25 (nineteen years ago) link

in a kindly sort of way, though.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 13:31 (nineteen years ago) link

Vile and appealing?

Ol' Dirty Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 13:32 (nineteen years ago) link

robert plant checking a concert at the barbican

stelfox, Tuesday, 16 November 2004 13:32 (nineteen years ago) link

when i was living in liverpool and manchester, i went thru a stage of seeing bez every weekend for almost a year. i took this to mean i should go out less and calm down a bit.

stelfox, Tuesday, 16 November 2004 13:35 (nineteen years ago) link

Dominik Diamond in Mono, Sunday. Woo!

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 13:43 (nineteen years ago) link

exactly why is he vile and appalling?

Porkpie (porkpie), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 13:44 (nineteen years ago) link

Dominik Diamond - now he is vile and appalling!

Ol' Dirty Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 13:52 (nineteen years ago) link

I spilt Dominik Diamond's pint at a Morrissey gig a couple of years ago, he was surprisingly ok about it.

leigh (leigh), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 13:59 (nineteen years ago) link

is he as bald, in real life?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 14:00 (nineteen years ago) link

Homophobia, I imagine. Bez, that is.

Kate Winslet went to Red Roofs drama school in Maidenhead. I haven't seen her, but it has sort of kept me going for a couple of days.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 14:01 (nineteen years ago) link

I didn't know he was like that, he certainly wasn't the only time he was ever in the proximity of me, instead he was just telling very funny stories and signing the odd autograph - seemed a thoroughly decent (if completely fried) individual.

Porkpie (porkpie), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 14:22 (nineteen years ago) link

LINDSAY LOHAN, PEOPLE.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 15:14 (nineteen years ago) link

Bez is ace, according to friend who worked with him on his 'job's a good'un!' telly bits.

Kate Winslet used to work in a traiteur in Primrose Hill when I lived there, as a Saturday girl.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 15:21 (nineteen years ago) link

LINDSAY LOHAN, PEOPLE

I know! I can't believe this has gone unremarked upon, Spencer could be the new Wilmer.

Leon the Fratboy (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 15:23 (nineteen years ago) link

GIVE US MORE SPENCER. WE MUST KNOW ALL.

Dale Panopticalis (cprek), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 15:26 (nineteen years ago) link

Every time I see Adr1an Brody in a movie I think of Spencer's story.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 15:46 (nineteen years ago) link

I was trying to figure out of Spencer was having an out-of-body experience. (I'm also completely confused -- an "8-head"?)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 15:56 (nineteen years ago) link

Weirdly, I just saw Bez on Wardour Street on the corner of St Anne's Court. Spooky.

Ol' prune face (Mark C), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 15:57 (nineteen years ago) link

double forehead, ned

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 15:59 (nineteen years ago) link

Now I'm even more confused! What in the world is a double-forehead? The equivalent to a double chin?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 16:07 (nineteen years ago) link

Whoa, I just realized my forehead is exactly as tall as four of my fingers!

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 16:35 (nineteen years ago) link

A fucking big forehead, Ned.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 16:36 (nineteen years ago) link

why are big foreheads good? is this some kind of obscure fertility connection?

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 17:17 (nineteen years ago) link

I've seriously never heard either of those terms in my life. I just hear about big foreheads (I have one myself, especially in comparison to my sister).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 17:18 (nineteen years ago) link

Big Forehead = Brains

Which makes me and Markelby geniuses

Ol' Dirty Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 17:21 (nineteen years ago) link

Speaking of Miss Lohan...
Last week I saw Fez (from That 70's Show) give Richard Jefferson (of the New Jersey Nets) a THUG HUG.

ddb (ddb), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 17:23 (nineteen years ago) link

Bez made some comment about gays in an interview or something. I think he was just 'having it large' and being a bit of a dimbo. To his credit, he did apologise about it later. I met them once and they were very nice, gentlemen in fact. Albeit gentlemen in search of cigarette papers. Perhaps PF is barking up a completely different tree. How should I know? Eh?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 17:54 (nineteen years ago) link

Yes, a different tree.

The definitive statement about Happy Mondays was made not by me but by Andrew Dean, in a letter to Steady Mike, which with predictably uncanny recall Mike recited, roughly, to me, in August or September 1999. I liked the letter, as Mike recalled it, because it managed to convey contempt and hatred while eschewing obscenity.

the bluefox, Tuesday, 16 November 2004 17:59 (nineteen years ago) link

Oh, do tell.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:01 (nineteen years ago) link

I can't - I don't remember the wording. I have given an impression of what it said, I hope.

Mr. Dean himself, or Steady Mike, might be able to fill us in properly.

the bellefox, Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:13 (nineteen years ago) link

I have seen Dominik Diamond at Celtic a lot. I didn't realise he counted as a celebrity (I used to go to school with him, so don't consider him a celebrity anyway, but I didn't think anyone else did either).

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:24 (nineteen years ago) link

Was it just about music/dancing and related matters or other things?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:25 (nineteen years ago) link
