86 to avoid the follow on. but jacob oram could fairly easily knock through that in an hour on his own.

Upt0eleven, Friday, 6 June 2008 15:51 (fifteen years ago) link

Upt0eleven, Friday, 6 June 2008 15:51 (fifteen years ago) link

Fuck sake, I'm missing this, stuck in work... not that I'm doing any work of course

Tom D., Friday, 6 June 2008 16:06 (fifteen years ago) link

We need to take a backup of Anderson and restore it before every match.

Jarlrmai, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:06 (fifteen years ago) link

4 to go for a laker

Jarlrmai, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:07 (fifteen years ago) link

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Can't see him taking 9 in the second innings however (xp)

Tom D., Friday, 6 June 2008 16:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Devon Malcolm took 9 wkts in a test match once, or did I imagine that!?!??!

Tom D., Friday, 6 June 2008 16:09 (fifteen years ago) link

and off they go. So no chance of 10 now if he cant bowl them out tonight!

He did indeed.

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:09 (fifteen years ago) link

Upt0eleven, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:10 (fifteen years ago) link

Given his luck Collingwood will come on to hold up an end and rob Jimmy of a 10 for.

Jarlrmai, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:10 (fifteen years ago) link

Why the fuck cant they just use floodlights?

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:10 (fifteen years ago) link

Follow on enforced and NZ are 45-2

Herman G. Neuname, Saturday, 7 June 2008 15:26 (fifteen years ago) link

"Devon Malcolm took 9 wkts in a test match once, or did I imagine that!?!??!"

9-57 against South Africa at the Oval to square the series -- one of the great spells of out and out fast bowling I've seen. So great.

"Flintoff bat well? That would be a first."

All those innings against the Aussies in the Ashes over here. Unlike Bell, they were made when it actually counted.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 7 June 2008 21:00 (fifteen years ago) link

Harmison bowled well in the ashes against Aus in England but i wouldnt have him back based on past glories. Flintoff is not and hasnt been for a few years good enough to bat at no6. He will get in as a bowler.

Herman G. Neuname, Saturday, 7 June 2008 21:05 (fifteen years ago) link

He has had injury problems for a while, etc. but if he gets his bowling on song he'll get the batting right as well -- and it would be good enough for no6.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 7 June 2008 21:08 (fifteen years ago) link

holy shit what a six from KP. He just switched hands as Styrus bowled and hit a six left handed over long on. Amazing stuff.

Herman G. Neuname, Sunday, 15 June 2008 12:38 (fifteen years ago) link

Now Shah is hitting sixes. Fun Fun Fun.

Herman G. Neuname, Sunday, 15 June 2008 12:55 (fifteen years ago) link

I was gonna start an ILC thread about this.

Just got offed, Monday, 16 June 2008 14:04 (fifteen years ago) link

PAUL COLLINGWOOD YOU UNSPORTING PRICK

New Zealand is calling this "Underarm II", lol.

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 26 June 2008 08:18 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah because graeme swann should have just fkn underarmed it gently towards the non-striker's end amirite

Just got offed, Thursday, 26 June 2008 08:19 (fifteen years ago) link

lol spirit of cricket and fair play lol

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 26 June 2008 08:25 (fifteen years ago) link

i'm no collingwood fan either dude, at least the right result was (somehow) achieved

Just got offed, Thursday, 26 June 2008 08:26 (fifteen years ago) link

Easy to apologise when it doesn't mean anything.

aldo, Thursday, 26 June 2008 08:29 (fifteen years ago) link

TS: The country that tried to killed Don Bradman with some leg side deliveries vs. The country that whinged because a lesser Chappell brother bowled it underarm that time.

Now I put it like that, I'm backing England on this one.

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 26 June 2008 08:36 (fifteen years ago) link

The great thing about the underarm incident, which nobody seems to have ever picked up upon, is that the ball was still bouncing, fairly slowly, when it reached the batsman. One big heave could have still done the trick (and shown up the Aussies for being gutless losers).

Just got offed, Thursday, 26 June 2008 09:00 (fifteen years ago) link

:D

wilter, Thursday, 26 June 2008 09:06 (fifteen years ago) link

The papers made a lot more of this than BBC commentary, which I suppose is to be expected. Apparently the Kiwis slammed the dressing room door in Collingwood's face when he went there after the match.

Neil S, Thursday, 26 June 2008 09:29 (fifteen years ago) link

Colly's Folly

Tom D., Thursday, 26 June 2008 09:36 (fifteen years ago) link

Utterly ridiculous

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 15:28 (fifteen years ago) link

Louis where is your outrage?!!

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 15:52 (fifteen years ago) link

That's some bullshit right there.

Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 15:54 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm outraged, if that helps!

Neil S, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 15:55 (fifteen years ago) link

It's crazy. They refused to come out and play and the game was forfeited. How can that be changed? A draw?? yes I know Pakistan probably would've have won it unless England had a remarkable comeback, but they refused to play. The laws of the game are they forfeit the match.
They could've won the game then made a complaint. But they didn't. It's a complete farce.
Who the fuck is running the ICC?

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 16:03 (fifteen years ago) link

Jonathan Agnew made a good point in that article linked to above: if you're losing, just refuse to come out and play, and you'll get a draw.

Neil S, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 16:04 (fifteen years ago) link

Or at least that's the precedent the ICC is setting.

Neil S, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 16:05 (fifteen years ago) link

If this affected the series outcome they would never have changed it.

Jarlrmai, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 16:05 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah, don't like some umpire decisions and just refuse to play and that's cricket fucked.

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 16:09 (fifteen years ago) link

Did the result of that one dayer were Sherwin Campbell was allowed to come back out to bat after being run out because of a collision with Brendon Julian stand?
