Back in my SF days, I was always a fan of Dos Amigos, which had a couple of places in my neighborhood (Tenderloin/Polk/Nob Hill). I think it lost a certain cool factor in SF because they weren't in the Mission, but they had some great hearty burritos.

my favorite is actually at el balazo on jessie (probably the haight st one too but I haven't eaten there). shockingly not in the mission.

el balazo is south of market (we walked right by it when we went to the mezzanine), but not shitty-looking.

there is someplace on 1st or 2nd that will give you horrible indigestion and make you hurl, if you're lucky.

Cancun rocks -- there are two in the Mission, one around 18th and one below Cesar Chavez.

El Metate in the Mission (Bryant and, what, 21st? 22nd?) is a fine newish addition to the list, though I wouldn't say "best".

yeah really @d@m, cancun in berkeley is just about as good as they get (note that I can only speak of veggie burritos). but the balazo burrito with cactus: hmmmmmm! Please destroy: 360 degree Gourmet Burrito mini chain shit, with it's raw onions and cold rice.

i wrote farolito way upthread last july but it changes all the time (although if you like real mexican food like sesos, lengua, and menudo you will not be dissapointed with farolito!)

hi! Waht is recommended place for eating near Broadway/Van Ness? That is where my hotel is and I'm thinking on Sunday when I get in we're not gonna want to do too much wandering for tiredness. Someone recommended me something along the lines of Okozu, Okozo Sushi? Doesn't have to be sushi recs though! It would be appreciated...

I wish I could remember the name of the whole-in-the-wall Indian place we ate it as it was seriously the best Indian food I've ever eaten in the US. Also it was ridiculously cheap; I think the entrees were something like $4 each.
