i don't listen to the albums tbh. too saccharine, too wimpy, too cynical in their pandering, plus like u say he comes off kind of annoying. "kick push" is ok if yr in the mood, but the only track i really play at all is "steady mobbin'" (or "ghetto story") from the leaked version of the debut which is both dope & pretentious on a socially conscious tip (also quite saccharine, with the strings going).

the tapes are cynical too but he's much better throwaway on stolen beats & he's targeting a rapnerd demograf, or striking tough poses like on "Lupe the Killer", or how he's he's "sittin' sideways" on "Clean" with disclaimers for gangsta reportage. so these are pre-debut exercises just like he flips between gangster & teacher on "Switch". kind of interesting. thx 4 the album tracks u like since they could get rescued from sitting around dusty taking up hard disk space. (tho iirc i find daydreamin, superstar, paris, tokyo all just ok)

ive never heard his tapes, not totally interested at this point i guess :-/

yeah i guess u kinda had to be there maybe? or maybe they're wack either way. but it was exciting to me, & i still love the tracks youtubed above and others, and check for his tapes, even if just for a listen. that most recent one has a track where i think he emulates a gucci flow :P
