What's Your Next Tattoo?

my friend is looking at getting a tattoo on her body side, but she suffers from psoriasis.

How much of a problem would this be? I've heard that it could flare up with a tattoo, she suffers mainly on her legs and elbows.

I insisted on the ladybug bc she enjoyed playing gently w bugs. The pain was superficial, not particularly serious but also the thigh is a meaty area.

I could feel the difference from one side of the leg that’s more fatty (interior) than the other one (exterior side)

I think I’m hooked. Definitely interested in doing this again next time I get inspired.

I don't know which my next one is! I'm running out of space on my left arm but there's some spots where I have ideas...I have enough now that it's not a giant deal to get one, like I'll get something on a lark, but the ideas I have for the spots to fill in never quite solidify. A coelacanth is one that's a strong contender (my left arm at present has a vulture, a crab, a snake, and two non-animal heavy-metal-related pieces)...but also, pandas are greatly loved by my younger son, so I think about getting a panda, but then I fret that vulture / crab / snake / panda leaves panda kind of the odd animal out

Thanks! It barely hurts now that I took 2 ibuprofens. I saw an actual coelacanth irl (preserved in a tub in the Field Museum) and I endorse this idea!

My gf just got her first tattoo (a really sweet bonding thing with her three best friends) & was asking me if i'd ever get one, after thought the only thing I could imagine paying tribute to permanently like that is my beloved cat. it may be in the cards.

(somewhere in a box somewhere I've got a bunch of coins from the Comoros that I bought on ebay because they have coelacanths on them, JCLC you should do it)

Also I gotta say that the way she said “we’ll take this at your pace because this is your first time” showed me that this was going to be a good experience She checked in w me a number of times before it became clear that as long as I was talking about music, my dog, or my job I was sufficiently distracted from caring about the physical sensation. Would recommend her without hesitation!!

Without knowing me at all she had set up the Spotify station around a Can song!!! It was fun talking about Mother Sky while being needled.

That's a lovely tribute, LL. I also got my first ink this year. Inner upper arm; the parts closest to the inner elbow and armpit were FUCKING JESUS CHRIST THAT HURTS but I am nevertheless planning to fill in a half sleeve with two more pieces.

I recommend following artists whose work you like on Instagram! I followed mine after erstwhile ilxor Carl Agatha got a tattoo by her and since have enjoyed both her images and captions. Knowing who she (the artist) is (as a person) a little better helped me decide that this was the right thing to do and helped me feel safe and confident about the decision.

I feel different! Also the magic of having my dog with me forever seems effective. I feel like her spirit hasn’t disappeared.
