I don't know. I'm partial b/c I have such fond memories of it & they just seem so young . . . like we were all those years ago. all in all, the video was not great.

Plus, I feel like I spotted like, 3 new colin characters.

j - any feedback on the mp3 i sent you?

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:53 (sixteen years ago) link

There is some weird shit on youtube if you search my last name. None of it has anything to do with me.

n/a, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:55 (sixteen years ago) link

wow. that just made me worried about my brother having videos on you tube. he doesn't.

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:00 (sixteen years ago) link

I liked it, Kels! Some great sounds.

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:01 (sixteen years ago) link

Sarah I found some footage of some terrible bands playing at meridian coffeehouse but it's really dark and you can't see anything.

n/a, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:01 (sixteen years ago) link

Nick, it looks like there are two videos. I was watching the first one.

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:02 (sixteen years ago) link

Can I tell you what they were?

1. walking on stones (some looped)
2. walking on pavement
3. leaves being torn
4. leaf eating a carrot

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:02 (sixteen years ago) link

It kind of blows my mind that people I know started that improv troupe (Matt P. came up with the name) and now there are kids 14 years younger than them who are in it, who have no connection with that original cast.

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:05 (sixteen years ago) link

I liked the looping effects.

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:05 (sixteen years ago) link

We should organize a giant get-together through the ages.

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:07 (sixteen years ago) link

I think there was talk a couple years ago about doing a reunion show at Homecoming.

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:08 (sixteen years ago) link

Actually, in that second video, someone is using a cell phone and is scrolling through their address book and L1za B1elby is in it.

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:10 (sixteen years ago) link

i didn't watch that one!

sweet tater, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:13 (sixteen years ago) link

i don't mind saying 'my husband' even though it still feels weird, but i really hated saying 'my fiance' and pretty much called him my boyfriend or if forced to say 'my fiance' would do it in a jokey way.

why does firefox spelling thing correct 'fiance'? they want toby to be a girl!

colette, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:13 (sixteen years ago) link

I had to stop after a minute because I was afraid I'd get too embarrassed.

You're a nut, you're crazy in the coconut.

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:42 (sixteen years ago) link

I remember being on vacation with my family somewhere in India and me sitting around the hotel room waiting for lame Asian MTV to play the video for "Easy." I don't think they ever did. I love that song too, though it's weird how faithful it is to the original.

Eazy should cover that song.

dan m, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:48 (sixteen years ago) link

I always liked the cover art for that song.

also I wish I could change my ILX name to "your menstruating heart."

n/a, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:50 (sixteen years ago) link

Half of the people in my band are big Faith No More fans.

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:51 (sixteen years ago) link

I think I am the only big FNM fan in the FFs, but I'm big enough of a fan that I make up for the other two.

n/a, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:52 (sixteen years ago) link

I want to change my screen name to "another body murdered" after the song they did with Boo-Yeah T.R.I.B.E.

dan m, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:52 (sixteen years ago) link

Actually I know I am the only big FNM fan in the FFs.

n/a, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:52 (sixteen years ago) link

I didn't even know they covered it! When I heard it, I probably just assumed it was the Commodores version and changed channels.

KitCat, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:53 (sixteen years ago) link

Why did I never get into Tribe Called Quest? I went to Dusty Groove for the first time yesterday and they were playing Midnight Marauders, and it sounded fantastic.

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:54 (sixteen years ago) link

I would like to hear John's band cover Faith No More, for real. It would be so different that it would be transformed and fresh.

I don't think I've heard a whole Faith No More album, but "Midlife Crisis" is one of the few college rock songs I liked in college.

Eazy, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:54 (sixteen years ago) link

I listened to a cassette of my radio show last weekend. I still like everything I played. I sound oddly quite a bit like John on the air.

Eazy, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:55 (sixteen years ago) link

I only ever had the first album but FNM is great.

It's not from the same album, but "I Left my Wallet in El Segundo" was my and my neighbor kid's theme song for a summer in like 6th or 7th grade. We had no idea what it was about.

dan m, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:00 (sixteen years ago) link

I have "why did I never get into" moments so often that they're just part of listening to music. Don't fret, John, just pick up a copy of The Low End Theory.

kenan, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:02 (sixteen years ago) link

I mean, in light of the fact that in 1993 I owned these three albums:

http://www.ethankbirchard.com/images/Reachintimeandspace1.jpg http://www.artistdirect.com/Images/Sources/AMGCOVERS/music/cover200/drc300/c356/c3562091o6i.jpg http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/thumb/7/7f/200px-Us3_-_hand_on_the_torch.jpg

A friend in high school put a couple of Tribe songs (like "Bonita Applebum") on mixtapes, but I've never heard a whole album.

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:02 (sixteen years ago) link

On Tribe's first album:

Although now heralded as a classic, at the time of its inception it was met with less fanfare. Chuck Eddy of Rolling Stone wrote that the album "is one of the least danceable rap albums ever" and he went on to say "it's impossible to imagine how people will put this music to use"[2].

jaymc, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:04 (sixteen years ago) link

Haha, I had DP and US3 too.

Blowout Comb >>>>>>> Reachin'. Still sadly underrated.

kenan, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:05 (sixteen years ago) link

Reachin' is still one of my favorite albums ever.
