we still haven't gotten copies at amoeba in SF, even though vocalcity still gets restocked regularly. i listened to the vinyl and at first listen thought there were way more vocals than vocalcity...and it was a bit of a turnoff. can anyone give me a good comparison review?

ouch - maybe that's why our buyer hasn't picked it up yet -- it's tough enough getting people to buy $20 imports let alone $30. what's with the ridiculous price?

Mark - it's slightly different, perhaps ever so slightly inferior... although I only say that because they extend that synth-guitar solo from its interlude right through to the end, which means it overshadows slightly my favourite riff in the whole track which comes in near the end.

Luckily there's "Could Be Like This", which is like "The Present Lover" mark 2 (slightly less vocals) and is possibly (gasp) BETTER.

Well I downloaded it but it has the copy-protection bleeps (I've never run accross these before) -- there's 12 hours down the drain. I hope it comes out on CD in the States eventually.

Anyway, I love it. Not sure yet how I would rank it next to Vocalcity but v. nice.

Mutualism reports a new Luomo album in the works for 2006. Plus Vocalcity is being reissued this year on his own label as all Force stuff is out of print.

yeah that re-issue cover is very disappointing. i assumed Vlad was quite deeply into the aesthetics/ graphics of the whole thing. maybe it's an anti design move? the cover reminds me of Omni trio "The Deepest Cut Volume 1" more than anything else.

Tim F. is right, it has a very dense sound, it's kind of weird. Certainly worth your time, but don't expect to be blown away at first. Holding out hope that it gets better.

It took me a decade since the first time I ever heard it, but I’ve finally realized The Right Wing is an extraordinarily strong track. I used to think it was the album’s dullest moment, but now I’m realizing just how strong that beat is!
