someone earlier mentioned "cannonball" as an indie fuxor song, and based on who plays it, sure. but musically it's pure contrived over-the-top pop. if kylie did it instead it would've been no. 1!

Oh, and the biggest, most obvious omission from the list is "Protection". It wasn't nominated, I don't know why. I probably should've done it, but I thought someone else surely would. I would've definitely voted it for the number one spot.

As for 'I'm too Sexy' - it's a great track. I don't know how you explain songs appeal really. Deeply Dippy, as I said elsewhere, is my genuine favourite song of the 90s, so partly it got voted for by proxy.

Yeah, I guess when I mentioned "Cannonball" as an indie fuxxor song, I was thinking mostly of it being a song that kids listening to alt-rock in the early 90s were well aware of and probably still like, what with its Pixies cred and all.

Also really sucks about Beltram being so close, my vote would've put it over if I had seen that it was nominated. I really don't get what happened there.

I'm a little bit disappointed with the results in that the great majority of my favorites didn't place, and those that did were really quite low. Still, a very cool top ten--and much less obvious than I expected.

I knew DI would split votes like crazy but I hoped that "The Last Dance" had enough of a reputation to set it apart. Guess not--that's really a shame though. I suppose they'll be much better represented by D.I. Go Pop in the albums poll, but that album really isn't close to as classic as the EPs (which, you'll notice, are the source of all the songs nominated--none on the LP are nearly as good as those four).

I hate to state the obvious, but you should really listen to it again without prejudice due to overexposure or bad memory associations or whatever. It's an urgent, catchy, passionate, really quite heartbreaking rock song.

I'm glad I never got around to doing the blurb I was planning on writing for "Hey Jealousy". It would've been an awful lot of passion and energy for a song that didn't even make the list.
