Nintendo; Sega was kinda the "evil empire" for me as a kid ("this Sonic is such a Mario ripoff" I'd think) though I did envy Madden on the Genesis. I loved my Dreamcast though, RIP.

xp but again i don't remember a single decent game for it apart from the 4-in-1 that included columns and the tennis game.
although hwe rarely got consoles when they were new, over the years we had:

i was very much pro sega as a kid because i got a master system then mega drive. When i finally got a snes one christmas after it became pretty cheap i ws absolutely blown away by super mario world and zelda. So, yeah, nintendo by a long way.

gamecube vs dreamcast is a difficult one. both two of the most aesthetically pleasing consoles of all time, gamecube maybe edges it for having most comfortable ever pad. dreamcast had some features that were 2 future 4 u
i was a nintendo kid. started out on a colour gb then graduated to the n64. so obv nintendo. but i did enjoy a fair few sega games as well. for example over time, outrun has become an important game to me. i'm sure the same goes for the sega kids. not once did i ever feel any gamer's envy toward the other side

game gear had the master system converter, and was the first colour hand held. ahead of its time. i have a lot of respect for the way sega constantly innovated and stood by their mistakes - unlike nintendo who practically laughed gunpei yokoi out of the bulding as soon as the virtual boy flopped

Yeah, at first it's kind of a neat thing to see but it wasn't really utilized at all. Nintendo tried to use a similar idea with the GC/GBA connectivity with horrible results.

My considered verdict: eh is ok
Physics are weird, it feels slow, level design is too reliant on bottonless pits (Casino Street zone is cordially invited to lick me), music is bland and unmemorable, yet still the best the franchise has been in 15 years.
