Ah, no reception. You're making me homesick.

No No Colette. We don't say tor-toyce. Unless we're trying to be funny. It's more taught'ss.

Yay. I think a FAP around 4am in the pub might be fun. I'm going to week 2.

we've had tickets for week 1 since before they announced the lineup...so hopefully it'll be a good one!

don't bother unless you're really into the bands. last year they made no effort at putting on a 'rest of festival' after all. i worked out that for the same money (possibly cheaper) i could have gone to benicassim and seen lots of bands i actually LIKED.

that said: cat power; fiery furnaces; stephen malkmus - it has potential..

last year, the "rest of the festival" was the best bit!!!

That said, Barry whatshisface didn't actually organise me proposing to Vicky. Best music last year was in the bar on the Monday morning at 3am - it was fantastic.

yes, you're right about that actually - but for me, most of that was the fun we made ourselves, seeing friends, going to the beach, getting drunk in chalets - that sort of thing. i may be getting all dewy-eyed and nostalgic, but i seem to remember that even in the couple of years before last they had at least made SOME effort to put something else besides the bands on. none last year. if i have to make my own entertainment, i can probably do that at home while nobody is looking..

i remember walking into the queen vic on the sunday night and they were playing amy stewart's 'knock on wood'. to me, after everything else i had listened to that weekend, it sounded like the best thing i had EVER heard.

actually, it is quite a nice song.

i think someone said it was northern soul monday morning 3 a.m.? i had given up by that point.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Monday, 5 January 2004 12:04 (twenty years ago) link

it was, and it was great, me and Jonnie danced our arses off.

chris (chris), Monday, 5 January 2004 12:08 (twenty years ago) link

i had so much fun last year, and a lot of it was just close-quarters hanging with my friends, kind of going on first dates with my now boyfriend, and doing little field trips (to the lighthouse, the mini train, that famous guy's house, pubs in rye) etc.

i'm sure this year can't possibly live up to it, but i'm even more excited about the bands. and trans am will be there. and maybe i can hang out with them. which i've wanted to do for about 6 years or something.
