friend's birthday dinner - fucking 9-dish Chinese dinner plus entree and dessert, yum! I'm fucking stuffed - included rice, chicken w/cashew nut, szechuan chicken, steamed fish in soy sauce, tofu, mixed veg, peking duck, sweet sour beef, another veg dish, spring rolls, chinese tea. For dessert, we had red bean Chinese pancakes with vanilla ice cream.

Tomorrow, another friend's having a fucking barbecue.

Tonight I steamed some mussels with white wine, garlic, shallots, linguiça, and a little bit of saffron. Added some butter and chopped cilantro at the end, and ate it with some good bread and a watercress salad with blood orange viniagrette.

It's not fancy but I just got home from having beers locally and I was peckish, so I browned up a pork chop, made some garlic couscous, and a mesclun salad w/ goddess dressing & goat cheese. So much savoriness!

Yesterday I had fucking butternut squash and poxy blue cheese soup, and it was velvety and fucking awesome and I will be making it again when I want to seem posh without any fucking effort whatsoever.

Today I'm up early because we're having fucking guests over for cockramming lunch, and I'm making a big fuck off Sunday roast with chicken and roast potatoes and phallic roast parsnips and humping broccoli that looks like fucking trees.

Fine, I put some brown rice on, too. But right now, just the salad. My leafy greens went yucky, so all it is is raw sliced carrot, green pepper, tomato, zook and broc with some blue cheese crumbled on top. I am convincing myself that it is not only delicious (easy) but hardy and filling (more difficult, but hopefully the rice will help.)

That recipe is all fucking wrong. It's done with chicken breast only. and no sultanas.

Ok, so. you boil a whole chicken breast for 10 mins with a cinnamon stick and some salt. keep the stock. (and make sure the chicken isn't overcooked, it happened to me and it was a bit dry and nasty).

brown the lamb mince (1/2 kg) in a saucepan on it's own (no oil or nuffin).

Then add a tablespoon of butter with a teaspoon of ground cinnamon and a teaspoon of allspice. Cover the fucking thing and let it cook for maybe 15-20 mins, stirring it fairly frequently.

add 1 1/2 cups of basmati rice and 2 or 3 (i just used all of it) cups of the leftover stock. simmer for 20 more minutes.

brown 1/2 cup of pinenuts and 1/2 cup slivered almonds in a bit of olive oil in a frying pan or whatever's fucking handy.

To serve you put the mince/rice on a big plate or something. Then tear the chicken into smallish morsels and spread it over the rice, then put the nuts on the top of that, and then chuck on a bit more ground cinnamon on top for good times.
