am glad that this did not happen btw, we had a pretty vicious family scene that ended up with one dj cousin losing job and two fairly badly scratched faces. no arrests tho so result!

East Dulwich! That's where I live! I live in East Dulwich! Yayy!

quiz show flat-track bully (darraghmac), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 13:43 (fourteen years ago) link

i believe east dulwich. train stops there, right?

quiz show flat-track bully (darraghmac), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 13:43 (fourteen years ago) link

boring, boring darragh

It has an overland station, yeah. And a lot of buggy-wielding posh muvvers

MPx4A, Tuesday, 9 February 2010 13:45 (fourteen years ago) link

Only place I've ever been mugged, the mean streets of east dulwich.

James Mitchell, Tuesday, 9 February 2010 13:48 (fourteen years ago) link

Crazy shit goes down outside Jojo Maman Bebe.

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 14:06 (fourteen years ago) link

what kind of present your naked body (Upt0eleven), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 14:20 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah as i've said it was a scene i'm actually glad everyone but my brother and best friend avoided tbh.

quiz show flat-track bully (darraghmac), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 14:25 (fourteen years ago) link

Which pub was it, just out of interest?

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 14:30 (fourteen years ago) link

the vale

quiz show flat-track bully (darraghmac), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 14:39 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah, not east dulwich's finest watering hole by about, umm, all of them. although does have the world's creepiest children's play area out the back.

what kind of present your naked body (Upt0eleven), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 14:45 (fourteen years ago) link

yes, onlookers were filling me in on the reputation while the participants were tiring themselves out.

quiz show flat-track bully (darraghmac), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 14:48 (fourteen years ago) link

Haha. I've had some good partisan screaming in the Vale over the years. I watched Spurs 4-4 Villa there. A man started dancing in front of me and screaming when Younes scored.

MPx4A, Tuesday, 9 February 2010 14:50 (fourteen years ago) link

Then I went home and smashed the kitchen bin with a sledgehammer.

MPx4A, Tuesday, 9 February 2010 14:50 (fourteen years ago) link

That's what happens when you set foot in the Vale.

MPx4A, Tuesday, 9 February 2010 14:51 (fourteen years ago) link

logged out of ilx and went to bed at half time iirc. though i did once throw a guitar across the room and into the fire in protest at gary doherty.

quiz show flat-track bully (darraghmac), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 14:52 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah i'll not be rushing back to the vale tbh. for all i know i'm barred by association anyway

quiz show flat-track bully (darraghmac), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 14:53 (fourteen years ago) link

I left the East Dulwich Tavern at half time of Utd-Arsenal last week because I couldn't hack all the melodramatic Gooners and cockney Reds massively overemphasising their masculine commitment to football, it was like watching people auditioning for a scene in a slightly point-missing film or some shit

MPx4A, Tuesday, 9 February 2010 14:57 (fourteen years ago) link

I left cos they ran out of roasts

salsa sharkshavin (salsa shark), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 14:59 (fourteen years ago) link

Yup, that's the East Dulwich Tavern for you. Always a bit baffled by it: if you're so committed to the team, umm, why aren't you actually at the match? Wearing a replica shirt to watch a game in a pub is also unacceptable.

what kind of present your naked body (Upt0eleven), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 15:05 (fourteen years ago) link

^ yes on replica shirt

quiz show flat-track bully (darraghmac), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 15:08 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm not convinced there are actually any good pubs in East Dulwich. The Palmerstone is good if you fancy some wood pigeon for dinner but I'm not sure I'd just pop in for a pint. The EDT is a hellhole.

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Tuesday, 9 February 2010 15:17 (fourteen years ago) link

Inside 72 had draught Lowenbrau and cute girls but it was the size of a shoebox and then it closed; it is now some kind of tribute to the people of Clapham

two months pass...

Would anyone be interested in doing one, perhaps on or around the thirteenth of May?

Willing Travelbury (S-), Thursday, 29 April 2010 13:46 (thirteen years ago) link

I would, but I'll be in LA then.

ILX London is getting very, very bad at this

What you mean, like fuckers not showing up when they're supposed to?

in fairness i said i wasn't going to show before i didn't show.

just darraghmac tbh (darraghmac), Thursday, 29 April 2010 14:09 (thirteen years ago) link

This is why you are all so bad at this.

Would anyone be interested in doing one, perhaps on or around the thirteenth of May?

Why not. Which bit of London are you likely to be in or around?

Matt DC, Thursday, 29 April 2010 14:10 (thirteen years ago) link

I am staying in Kensington.

Willing Travelbury (S-), Thursday, 29 April 2010 14:12 (thirteen years ago) link

Any day but 12-14th...that's bang in the middle of my exams.

David (davek_00), Thursday, 29 April 2010 14:24 (thirteen years ago) link

I'm there 12-19th. So far on the calendar is Faust on the 16th and playing on a boat on the 17th.

Willing Travelbury (S-), Thursday, 29 April 2010 14:28 (thirteen years ago) link

we need to do an East London Overground Line FAP - those trains are mad roomy

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Thursday, 29 April 2010 14:34 (thirteen years ago) link

Football's Flocking Home (Tom D.), Thursday, 29 April 2010 14:35 (thirteen years ago) link

ok, is it boat-ting on the 17th?

xyzzzz__, Thursday, 29 April 2010 14:36 (thirteen years ago) link

it is

Willing Travelbury (S-), Thursday, 29 April 2010 14:39 (thirteen years ago) link

good stuff! I go once a month now the Klinker is gone, so I might be there then.

xyzzzz__, Thursday, 29 April 2010 14:47 (thirteen years ago) link

If we're leaning to the west side of central London I suggest The Ship in Fitzrovia.

Matt DC, Thursday, 29 April 2010 14:51 (thirteen years ago) link

Amazed I've never seen you at boat-ting, xyzzzz__ - we must just be overlapping/missing each other (I'm a fairly irregular attendee, but have been irregularly attending for a while).

I think the Klinker is only taking a year's sabbatical, you'll be pleased/horrified to know.

Remember me, but o! forget my feet (GamalielRatsey), Thursday, 29 April 2010 15:23 (thirteen years ago) link

lol, that was regular meet-up pub of non-ILX internet pals of mine for years, fapped there a few times when I was over. (nb the beers are not especially ace Sash, but everyone just drinks on the street in order to smoke so you'll be good.)

Yeah that's strange, must try and synchronize. Though I should say its been once a month so far this this year (once in Feb, Mar and Apr). Before that I used to go to the Klinker, mostly.

Its good news about the Klinker but I'm not too confident that it will return...
