Except they be grey.

When did New Balance become so damn expensive? I paid almost $95 for these...but they are going for $120+ online.

Just bought these on Ebay. I have a thing for plain and/or ugly shoes lately.

Challenge for y'all - recommend me more grown-up shoes that are still individual and cool but could be worn to a wedding, say. Please!

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 14:35 (twenty years ago) link

oooh nice shoes rainy!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 14:36 (twenty years ago) link

What is your price range, Mark?

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 14:37 (twenty years ago) link

I am now the proud owner of the above black & white stripey shoes, although I haven't worn them yet. I just know they will kill my feet, but hot damn they look good with a pair of jeans!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 14:39 (twenty years ago) link

I guess if I find a really good pair of shoes that I love and will wear a lot and are high quality, I could go for £80-£90 ($150-$165). I will not never ever wear loafers, though.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 15:47 (twenty years ago) link

loafers are compulsory for the gentlemen at the wedding, unless you want to eat outside

chris (chris), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 15:48 (twenty years ago) link

Stout boots are the shoe of the moment till sandal season comes.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 15:56 (twenty years ago) link

anyone wearing sandals at the wedding will be shot

chris (chris), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 15:57 (twenty years ago) link

I bought lk bennet shoes for the wedding, spending a fortune, and when I wore them the other night to break them in the slingback strap broke!!! I'm making sure they totally match the dress before I take them back, and if I decide to get them replaced, rather than demand my money back, I'm going to tug so hard on both straps to make sure it won't happen again....

Vicky (Vicky), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 16:03 (twenty years ago) link

actually ladies wearing sandals will not be shot, but gentlemen (and I use that term loosely for any man wearing sandals with a suit) will be killed and eaten

chris (chris), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 16:06 (twenty years ago) link

Mmm, longpig.

Not too original perhaps, but extremely comfy.

THANKS PINKPANTHER!

rainy (rainy), Thursday, 25 March 2004 10:20 (twenty years ago) link

Any more shoes to post Rainy?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 25 March 2004 10:24 (twenty years ago) link

I will tomorrow when I'm near my camera, but those pink ones are my best shoes by far. I really did meet royalty in them you know!

rainy (rainy), Thursday, 25 March 2004 10:27 (twenty years ago) link

If any Londoners fancy doing it "Rainy Style", those shoes are currently in the Shoe Express sale in Oxford Street for a sum less than Fifteen Engleesh Pounds, but hurry! Stocks won't last (ect ect). Also available in neon yellows and oranges.

Actually there are LOADS of grebt shoes in there recently. But the best f#cking ones have ridiculously high heels which I could barely walk in, aaaaah maaaan.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 25 March 2004 10:30 (twenty years ago) link

Really? Good news!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 25 March 2004 10:46 (twenty years ago) link

I'm in a quandry over my wedding shoes - obviously they have to be smart, byut they also need to be comfy - my toes are ridiculously wide and so I get really bad rubbing from loads of smart shoes - you know, stiff leather, hard bits round the entrance (Mrs)(what do you call the bit where you put your foot in????) So obviously my choices are limited - I've seen some nice Lambretta (kind of) Loafers, which look nice and wide and have plush padded entrances (mrs again), but they are pretty dull and won't get hardly any wear, which would be a shame. Anyone have any ideas?

chris (chris), Thursday, 25 March 2004 10:51 (twenty years ago) link

A quandary indeed. Bit round yr ankle is the cuff, btw.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 25 March 2004 10:52 (twenty years ago) link

These are pretty classy, and look sort of wideish. Office make lovely shoes.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 25 March 2004 10:54 (twenty years ago) link

Cuff! I should have known that, but alcohol may have killed that knowledge

chris (chris), Thursday, 25 March 2004 10:56 (twenty years ago) link

Ooh, I like these ones, but I'm not sure they're you, Chris.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 25 March 2004 10:57 (twenty years ago) link

they are nice Liz - good shout

Obviously I've been looking at Paul Smith shoes, but the smart ones all look so bleedin' painful

chris (chris), Thursday, 25 March 2004 10:57 (twenty years ago) link

x-post - no, they ain't me at all ;o)

chris (chris), Thursday, 25 March 2004 10:57 (twenty years ago) link

Office rule in the 'smart shoe' department!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 25 March 2004 10:58 (twenty years ago) link

blimey, those first ones are very nice indeed! Well done Liz!

Vicky (Vicky), Thursday, 25 March 2004 11:01 (twenty years ago) link

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:49 (twenty years ago) link

I like the gingham ones Pink.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:53 (twenty years ago) link

The pink ones, PinkPanther!

The first ones, Madchen, unless you have a real yen for the silver shoe this summer.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:53 (twenty years ago) link

Silver shoes! Get the ilver shoes Madchen. I love metalic shoes. (Colette's Shoes of Beauty to thread)

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:54 (twenty years ago) link

Liz and I - xpost and xopinions

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:55 (twenty years ago) link

Ooooooh I'm looking at the Faith site now. More online shoe Pr0n than you can shake a stick at.

Haha yes Anna. If there was pink gingham...

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:55 (twenty years ago) link

I've gotta side with the silver too. I was...8 (!) the last time I wore a pair of silver flats...sigh.

sgs (sgs), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:56 (twenty years ago) link

I got some new campers yesterday, they're lovely.

I also got some PF shoes on Monday (no, not Pinefox) - they're summery, and a bit gay, but after all, we are going to Key West

chris (chris), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:56 (twenty years ago) link

Ooooh they have those in red gingham though... Faith may be receiving my pennies soon.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:57 (twenty years ago) link

these are the PFs

chris (chris), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:59 (twenty years ago) link

They are only £15 Liz!!!!!!
I would go with the Green ones at the top Madchen.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:01 (twenty years ago) link

They also have the gingham ones in red & green. See...
http://www.faith.co.uk/jpg/productImages/424960af.jpg
http://www.faith.co.uk/jpg/productImages/424932af.jpg

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:03 (twenty years ago) link

The ones at the top are out only £17.50 but the green ones are out of stock - they only have boring and unsummery black or brown. The silver ones are £29. Heck, at these prices I could get both.

Pink, I say red gingham for Lolita-chic.

http://www.faith.co.uk/jpg/productImages/421823af.jpg

These are named after Cabbage!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:04 (twenty years ago) link

For £15 I could get two pairs too! Get them both Madchen!! Only problem with ordering the shoes online is that it doesn't tell you the shipping until you have put your credit card details on. I know Office charge £6.50, but who knows what faith will charge! Damn there not being a faith in cambridge!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:09 (twenty years ago) link

that's a great toe on that pink shoe above!
