When I joined the Singles Jukebox collective, my hope was that the exposure and experience of listening to so much music would give me a better sense of the pop landscape and it has been HELLA effective

i.e. 80% of this is music I'm very familiar with which is something I couldn't have said about last year's poll.

decent tune & all, and I've done my fair share of singing along to this in my car, but really? As far as country-pop crossover & teen-pop anthems go, yes I agree that this does that sort of thing very well, & Taylor does have a great set of pipes but, for #1, I just don't see it..

She played Letterman, Fallon, Kimmel and Carson Daly's show, has been reviewed on just about every music website and in every pop/rock leaning magazine. She's had videos featured on Youtube's front page. Charlotte Hatherley was her touring guitaris. I dunno, I guess it could be easy to not know who Bat for Lashes is.

i think the jukebox will eventually resolve but it's just now getting back on the rails for '10 so I'm not stressing the end-of-year thing.

v disappointed by the top 2. Daniel is just a really mediocre song lacking energy and ffs You Belong With Me, vocals aside, is the most boring and actually bland musical composition i heard last year along with all other TS. i am quitting polls forever etc.

I have no opinion on the Taylor Swift song, or the fact that it's #1. Daniel is pretty great, though if we were going through the nominations process again, I may have nommed Sleep Alone instead of Pearl's Dream. Sleep Alone has grown on me a lot in just the last month or so.

ftr i absolutely abhorred the first bat for lashes album. 'daniel' just came up on a playlist somewhere and i was astonished.

Once you get into Two Suns (if you try, that is), go back to the first album again. It seems so much better now that you can put it in some context.

I know this was hours ago (the thread keeps reviving!) and seems to refer to an already-held argument, but if the physical album can make it to me ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PLANET before Christmas, it came out in 2009

Bat for lashes is awwwight. Really though only Daniel and Glass are good on that album. More importantly what was she thinking with that album cover. Bad photoshop to the Nth degree....
