Artists with similar names that you get mixed up

Do the words "Jane's Addiction" and "Shins" sound even remotely similar? This isn't about their music, it's about how similar the respective names are.

It doesn't make any sense to confuse those two, and yet, it does.

I think once I thought Bens Folds Five was Five For Fighting and I thought Five For Fighting were Tears For Fears. I think I've finally got it right though.

Oh, my mom has something from Rocket from the Tombs.

Also, the Von Bondies and the Dandy Warhols. It's all the same to me.

I do confuse Robert Palmer and Robert Plant when talking about either of them, though, which is dumb.

And I still don't know the difference between Corey Hart and John Waite.

Replacements and Rembrandts, upon a time. I was aghast for a while that the 'Mats had reformed just to make the 'Friends' theme, before I realized my error.

Phil Collins/Peter Gabriel, because they're both overbearing ponces.

There's a band like Six By Seven that's Six From Seven or something, that I get mixed up with.

And because Pig Destroyer did a track called "Black Dice" every time I see something about Black Dice I have to take a second to remember that they're not Pig Destroyer. If you see what I mean.

They spelt it Be-Bop Deluxe, though, if that helps.

I don't know how this started considering the names are only similar in the vaguest ways (so this may be cheating a little) but or some reason since I learned of the two groups I've consisently confused The Flaming Lips and The Legendary Pink Dots.
Got much better at distinguishing the two more recently but for a good long time whenever one was brought up I thought the other was being reffered to.

People are really bad at coming up with band names aren't they

I'm sure I've mentioned this before but for years I sorta ignored - very foolishly and to my detriment, it turns out - Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, because I was confusing them with emo band Sleeptime Trio (who were pretty good as I recall, just not really my thing these days)

I realised today that, even though I should know better because they're all very much in my wheelhouse and they're all actually pretty different and based in different countries, I often conflate:
