Freaky!

Mass Photo Gathering in Trafalgar Square yesterday (I suspect I got better results on the Delta 3200 B&W film I was shooting at the same time but that'll be a coupla weeks...)

Tinside Lido in Plymouth; left pretty much abandoned for most of the year, an awesome art deco folly that juts out into an unpleasant bit of the sea. Plymouth gets more rain a year than Manchester.

ok, one from the recently purchased Minolta that came out nicely:

I'm lucky that I took a couple non-flash photos this night, since the flash and shutter were apparently out of sync the whole time, leaving me with three nearly blank rolls! I mostly shot at 1/60, which is maybe too fast for a camera from the early 60s? I know a lot of them defaulted to 1/30 for flash photography but thought I could shoot a little faster with no problem. The manual I downloaded doesn't actually specify exposure time for flash (which on this camera connects via PC cable).

Lovely shot.

Another pic from the PHNAT event from that roll of Delta 3200:

Some pretty fast film then yeah? Lookin pretty good.
What camera were you using? And have you shot much low light stuff with film of that speed? Kinda interested in trying some higher ASA film for nightime/indoor stuff.

lou reed scott walker monks niagra (chinavision!), Thursday, 25 February 2010 00:38 (fourteen years ago) link

Canon EOS 10 - a 1990 film SLR which I picked up for nothing a couple of years ago (having been spoiled by autofocus I've not gone back to our manual film SLRs as much). I did get some very low-light shots off this roll - I may try and put them on Flickr this evening. The camera has Delta 1600 in it right now.

High-speed colour film can be fun too, though the grain is a little more distracting there. This is Fuji Superia 1600 from about a year ago:

Michael Jones, Thursday, 25 February 2010 12:21 (fourteen years ago) link

tiny pedantic point, but the film you've got in at the mo - it's a delta 3200, right? as far as i recall there's no 1600 so you just shoot on 3200, set to 1600. i am basing this on always having bought 3200s and being impressed by developers who knew the setup and so developed with that in consideration.

Norman Mail (schlump), Thursday, 25 February 2010 12:26 (fourteen years ago) link

Ah, sorry, my mistake - it's not Delta, it's Fuji Neopan 1600. I also have some Neopan 400CN in the fridge (which can be processed as C41, so that immediately saves me at least a fiver and about 10 days' wait!), so that might be next.

From Kew Gardens on Saturday. I don't know these kids. They were talking about what the fish in the pond eat. One of them suggested snails, but the other said it was probably the green stuff on the water.

GREAT JOB Mushroom head (gbx), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 13:49 (thirteen years ago) link

I don't know about "favourite", LJ. Very glad to not have to go near the place until next Monday.

Was in Copenhagen this weekend (pics to follow - a lot of weeding to do) but it's cured me of that bicycle seat photo compulsion. First shot outside the station was a Brooks seat... and then I realised that about 1 in 12 bike seats in KBH are Brooks and, in Denmark, that adds up to a whole lot.

Michael Jones, Tuesday, 20 April 2010 17:16 (thirteen years ago) link

Another little obsession of mine is padlocks and the trip I've just been on has probably cured me of that too - specifically, passing over the Hohenzollen Bridge in Cologne. For old times' sake, now that I've lost interest...

No Photoshopping, no cropping, just a bit of contrast & exposure adjustment in Aperture and otherwise straight out of the camera. In other words, pure luck.

19 pigeons were resting on Em's parents' roof; we put food on the lawn for them, they came down, I startled them and snapped away. This was the result. It looks like time-delay superimposition of one pigeon ascending, but is three, genuinely, caught in a moment.
