Their story began when the piglet was found abandoned in the woods near Ehringhausen in rural southwestern Germany. Fireman Wilhelm Karl Dahlhaus and his family adopted the baby boar and raised him by hand. Christened Manni, the boar developed a friendship with another young household inhabitant, a Jack Russell terrier named Candy."
