bah bluddy Clark.

I know its only NZ but I enjoyed this.

Gotta feel if Collingwood and Pietersen find form, maybe dump Bell (bit of a Hick/Ramprakash type to me), MAYBE if Flintoff comes back batting well and firing in four over spells, THEN MAYBE, y'know...oh and I hear Simon Jones is recovering ok w/Worcestershire

xyzzzz__, Monday, 26 May 2008 21:10 (fifteen years ago) link

Damn, i was hoping the Windies would win:\

wilter, Monday, 26 May 2008 21:59 (fifteen years ago) link

Nah Bell aint going anywhere. Colly might get dumped if hes awful against SA.
Flintoff bat well? That would be a first. I suppose there's more chance of that however than Anderson being consistent.

Herman G. Neuname, Monday, 26 May 2008 22:30 (fifteen years ago) link

Jimmy's on fire. 2 wickets with the new ball. I just wish he could bowl like this all the time.

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 13:43 (fifteen years ago) link

Good innings from Broad as well. Boycs reckons he'll get a century before his career is over.

Neil S, Friday, 6 June 2008 13:46 (fifteen years ago) link

Oh I think he'll get more than 1. I think he will be a better allrounder than Freddie.

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 14:11 (fifteen years ago) link

I would be more worried about his bowling than his batting

Tom D., Friday, 6 June 2008 14:13 (fifteen years ago) link

He needs to develop a metronomic action a la McGrath. He has the height, but not the pace at the moment.

Neil S, Friday, 6 June 2008 14:19 (fifteen years ago) link

Joel garner was in his late 20s before he got the pace. They're probably around the same size and Broad will get get stronger.

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 14:20 (fifteen years ago) link

If England do go with a 4 man attack against Australia or South Africa we might have Freddie at 7 and Broad at 8.

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 14:24 (fifteen years ago) link

Joel garner was in his late 20s before he got the pace

He was pretty good all along!

Tom D., Friday, 6 June 2008 14:27 (fifteen years ago) link

The BBC text commentary guy has annoyingly taken to calling Broad Malfoy. The beeb should have stuck with the factual stuff and not tried to copy the Guardian IMO.

Neil S, Friday, 6 June 2008 14:33 (fifteen years ago) link

Jimmy Jimmy
62-3

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 15:14 (fifteen years ago) link

Good stuff.

Jarlrmai, Friday, 6 June 2008 15:17 (fifteen years ago) link

4 down now. Jimmy nearly got Flynn LBW and he did next ball.

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 15:17 (fifteen years ago) link

Jimmy is so frustrating because you know he can bowl like this, then he is awful for the next 3 tests. If he could bowl like this against SA/Aus then we might have a chance. But wouldn't be surprised if he was mince tomorrow nevermind the 2nd innings.

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 15:19 (fifteen years ago) link

Going to the pub in a minute to watch this...

Neil S, Friday, 6 June 2008 15:28 (fifteen years ago) link

And Jimmy has a five-for

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 15:35 (fifteen years ago) link

might have missed it all by the time I leave!

Neil S, Friday, 6 June 2008 15:38 (fifteen years ago) link

86 to avoid the follow on. but jacob oram could fairly easily knock through that in an hour on his own.

Upt0eleven, Friday, 6 June 2008 15:51 (fifteen years ago) link

well, maybe two.

Upt0eleven, Friday, 6 June 2008 15:51 (fifteen years ago) link

NZ inverted batting order.

Jarlrmai, Friday, 6 June 2008 15:55 (fifteen years ago) link

Now here's something to play during the tea break:

Jimmy now has 6

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:02 (fifteen years ago) link

93-6 (Oram was the wicket btw)

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:03 (fifteen years ago) link

This BBC stream is miles behind.

Jarlrmai, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:04 (fifteen years ago) link

Fuck sake, I'm missing this, stuck in work... not that I'm doing any work of course

Tom D., Friday, 6 June 2008 16:06 (fifteen years ago) link

We need to take a backup of Anderson and restore it before every match.

Jarlrmai, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:06 (fifteen years ago) link

4 to go for a laker

Jarlrmai, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:07 (fifteen years ago) link

I think they will be going off for bad light soon

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Can't see him taking 9 in the second innings however (xp)

Tom D., Friday, 6 June 2008 16:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Devon Malcolm took 9 wkts in a test match once, or did I imagine that!?!??!

Tom D., Friday, 6 June 2008 16:09 (fifteen years ago) link

and off they go. So no chance of 10 now if he cant bowl them out tonight!

He did indeed.

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:09 (fifteen years ago) link

lol i wuz wrong.

Upt0eleven, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:10 (fifteen years ago) link

Given his luck Collingwood will come on to hold up an end and rob Jimmy of a 10 for.

Jarlrmai, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:10 (fifteen years ago) link

Why the fuck cant they just use floodlights?

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:10 (fifteen years ago) link

XXpost

Yeah lightening striking twice etc.

Jarlrmai, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:11 (fifteen years ago) link

Jarlrmai, Friday, 6 June 2008 16:11 (fifteen years ago) link

Just got offed, Friday, 6 June 2008 17:48 (fifteen years ago) link

Follow on enforced and NZ are 45-2

Herman G. Neuname, Saturday, 7 June 2008 15:26 (fifteen years ago) link

"Devon Malcolm took 9 wkts in a test match once, or did I imagine that!?!??!"

9-57 against South Africa at the Oval to square the series -- one of the great spells of out and out fast bowling I've seen. So great.

"Flintoff bat well? That would be a first."

All those innings against the Aussies in the Ashes over here. Unlike Bell, they were made when it actually counted.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 7 June 2008 21:00 (fifteen years ago) link

Harmison bowled well in the ashes against Aus in England but i wouldnt have him back based on past glories. Flintoff is not and hasnt been for a few years good enough to bat at no6. He will get in as a bowler.

Herman G. Neuname, Saturday, 7 June 2008 21:05 (fifteen years ago) link

He has had injury problems for a while, etc. but if he gets his bowling on song he'll get the batting right as well -- and it would be good enough for no6.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 7 June 2008 21:08 (fifteen years ago) link

holy shit what a six from KP. He just switched hands as Styrus bowled and hit a six left handed over long on. Amazing stuff.

Herman G. Neuname, Sunday, 15 June 2008 12:38 (fifteen years ago) link

Now Shah is hitting sixes. Fun Fun Fun.

Herman G. Neuname, Sunday, 15 June 2008 12:55 (fifteen years ago) link

I was gonna start an ILC thread about this.

Just got offed, Monday, 16 June 2008 14:04 (fifteen years ago) link
