Matthew Perpetua, in terms of suggestions of musical avenues to take. Sometimes he was right, sometimes he was wrong, but my tastes were expanded, certainly. Plus, he’s been kind enough to hook me up with a lot of hard-to-find stuff. We actually met on the Fake Matador Bulletin Board, which often felt like a haven from real (crappy) life when I was in college, and Matthew helped make that board a brighter place for me (so did Paul Cox).

So many people. From Marcello to Kate and a million people in between. I would not really say they had a transformative effect on my life, but I like most people on ILX. :-D

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 13:28 (sixteen years ago) link

Nowell? I don't remember her. :-(

nathalie, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 13:28 (sixteen years ago) link

Probably Luna and Mandee, because they're the ones I've most corresponded with outside ILX. Also Ed, Mark H and Hanna, who've I've met outside ILX (Ed twice now).

It wasn't particularly transformative, but it was certainly weird meeting RJG and Cathy in real life a couple of weeks ago: I was walking down a mountain in Barcelona, and there wasn't a soul in sight, until suddenly I hear someone yelling "Are you Finnish?!", and I see two people on the other side of the road, and it was RJG and Cathy.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 13:52 (sixteen years ago) link

wow, that is weird!

Did I miss the news of this? I'm amazed!

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 14:10 (sixteen years ago) link

It's not so weird because he was nekkid yelling "A RED BARN? A RED BARN? WAH?"

nathalie, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 14:55 (sixteen years ago) link

Apparently they spotted me walking down the hill, but didn't know how to pronounce my name, so they just decided to yell "Are you Finnish?". At first I didn't realize who they were, so I was like, "Huh, does it show?".

Tuomas, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 17:32 (sixteen years ago) link

How *do* you pronounce your name?

jaymc, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 17:33 (sixteen years ago) link
