youthful enthusiasm and hyperbole

what a curious double act you two appear to make.

I'm just thinking about how there's nothing "wrong" with being enthusiastic about something because it's novel and thinking it's the best thing ever, and how, as you get older, you feel this a lot less.

i also thought it would be funny to continue an argument from the "clitty" thread on a board that abbreviates to "twatson"

lasers to 'stun', twats to 'on'

but completely losing that sense of enthusiasm - and finding nothing novel anymore - is a really depressing thing.

youthful enthusiasm is always novel

just like when someone is constantly posting "we've already done this thread before"

totally had a dish which incorporated pomegranate - a duck fattee as made by my friend

one difference between he and i is that he is a monumentally amazing cook. actually, wait, that's not a difference. ;-)

had pomegranate sorbet at NYE party.

i meant i had mine last night. it also had rice, plain yoghurt, onions, loads of herbs and other stuff which i can't remember. anyway the skin of the duck was coated in salt and cinnamon and the whole thing was orgasmic. i ate a large plateful in about three minutes. then we watched movies. we saw the obscure b-movie film noir known as 'detour'! it was awesome. and we saw some other stuff. eventually i watched 'north by northwest' and my mind was blown

glad we're back on topic of youthful enthusiasm and hyperbole!

i have been thinking about this a lil recently. one of the characteristics being drawn to, and forgiving of, flawed things, because of an affection towards them, like a personal connection or the chance to use them as an emblem of your personality. when you're a little older it's hard to feign blindness towards weak spots or fillers on albums, or you have less need to have this perfect thing to hang on to.
