i actually like a tight pant that swallows a lot of the shoe. is that outlandish?

Honestly I think the safest way to wear wide-legged pants is with flats. I can imagine lots of good versions of pants with heels but there's always the risk crossing the line into what Nabisco is talking about. If you're not sure or you're chubby and happy about it or etc, safest is go to with nice pointy low shoes that will peep out but not make you look like you're disguising another 4 inches of height under there.

Also I have several times caught a heel in deep trouser cuffs, once resulting in my falling down the PATH stairs at Grove Street. No thanks! Not after last time!

UGH i know, so true. those royal blue leather bags have been making the rounds in the last few years.

i keep seeing lots of awesome bags but there will be one or two details, like random bits of fringe or a chain hanging off, that are deal-breakers for me.

That happens to me all the time with shoes, too! Being picky keeps my expenditures down, though. Phew.

Yes. I've only ever worn mine with flats. Also the pants in question are proper trouser style up top too. None of that "low waist muffin top butt crack thong showing shit." Yuck.

Flats or let's say, a nice 1-2" wedge heel like an espadrille. But obv that's way more summery, not for the whole tight-tight-tight-FLARED thing like Ms Blue Bag up there.

i dunno, i always feel sexy w/ a trouser leg and heels/heeled boots. i find that w/ flats, you have to hem them, and they lose some of the cool shape created by the trouser leg.

Yeah, exactly, Lauren. I like wide-legged pants in the '30s-40s movie way with a higher waist, very Coco/Garbo. (Almost a palazzo pant without looking like you used a whole drawing room curtain to for each leg.)

I could never never wear them cos I don't like having things around my waist. Also high-waisted jeans are so not the answer to sitting at a desk all day with the tummy bunched up. But I like that photo of her and I thought the disapproval when it came out was terribly unfair. :)

I can't remember what it was for but I think she was modeling. Maybe Imitation of Christ or something like that? I just know that I've seen Laurel post about that pic/those jeans a bunch of times before. They're like her holy grail jeans.
