Yikes. Next time, maybe they should do some sort of pay per view or on demand type of thing, because that sounds bad.

Now is the time of year to play Superdome and go 'what the hell.' Even in the KTMA era they knew how to handle slop so perfectly.

speaking of mst3k tunes and such, check the leonardo music journal over on noise thread. someone's put up a boatload of morricone stuff, including the danger: diabolik! soundtrack. it's ripped from the movie because the og tapes burned or something, so there's bits of dialog. which is kinda fun in a way, especially for fans of the mst3k version.

Doesn't rank as high as Creepy Girl, but "Werewolf" end credits still make me laugh til I cry...

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 21 January 2010 01:24 (fourteen years ago) link

So much is explained, really:

The Final Sacrifice arose as the project of a film student named Tjardus Greidanus, who was enrolled in the aspiring filmmaker program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. The film was completed with a budget of approximately $1500, and using cameras borrowed from the school. The actors signed on to the project with the understanding that they would be paid if the movie succeeded. Though the movie was eventually sold, the actors did not receive payment for their work. Christian Malcolm, who starred as Troy, was a fellow student of Greidanus and co-wrote the screenplay.

Bruce Mitchell (who played Rowsdower) later commented, “I don’t have any regrets making the movie because I find, as an actor, anything you do is a learning experience.”

Mitchell and Malcolm were accidentally credited in each other's roles in the end credits. By the time the mistake was realized, it was too late to fix.

Since making the film, Greidanus has gained success as a director of making-of documentaries, including several for the films of Michael Mann. Malcolm has continued working on stage and screen, and Mitchell continues to work as a stage actor and musician.

A few years ago a friend of mine and I were working on a "Lovecraftian horror" movie script that he planned to direct (I was gonna act, co-produce and do the music) for about the same amount ($1500). We got as far as holding casting auditions for it, but the script kept changing and was never finished properly. Both being stubborn bastards, my friend & I debated every plot point, character motivation and title idea until it dawned on us that the story, as it was emerging, basically amounted to a remake of The Final Sacrifice. That was rather disquieting.

Then due to some unrelated circumstances my friend ended up having to move into a new apartment and spend the money he had saved for the film. So the movie was never made ;_;
