Just thought I'd bump this 'cause of the Railroad Jerk thread to post a Teasers greatest hits comp that I made. Thoughts on this?

1. Mosquito
2. Panty Shots
3. Deliverance From Misrule
4. Only My Saviour
5. I'm a New Person Ma'am
6. Drove a Truck
7. O, Nurse!
8. Thank You God for Making Me An Angel
9. Don't Like People
10. Secrets in Welsh
11. Been Too Long
12. Anytime, Cowboy #2
13. Stand By Your Man
14. Adam Wake Up
15. These Things Shall Pass
16. Song of the White Feather Club Secretary

You forgot "Little Black Clouds" (or similar), which was the first song I heard by them on CBC radio (Brave New Waves probably) and bought SIRA based on that, thinking they were an awesome instru-band, and then was shocked, and then was way happy, cuz they're mean. and fun.
Saw them with Wesley Willis in ought-one, too. Was too drunk to make assessment, but I had fun and liked them a lot more than Willis.

Copying from RRJ thread: from Destroy All Human Life, what about Golden Apples, Brown Jews, Women and CHildren 1st? I love these. And Compressor off the new one, and Julie Halard which is in French to go with Secrets. Then, if you get rid of Drove a Truck (ugh) you have a perfect comp.

Yanc3y and Horace, if you're out there...picking up the thread from the other day, I listened to Destroy All Human Life again, and it struck me that what made it seem kind of boring when it came out was it felt like they were heading in a tame direction after Satan Is Real Again. But after seeing their live show this year, and heard what they chose to release as an odd and a sod, Destroy now seems more of an interesting side step. It has a kind of sparse mournful feeling to it that I can enjoy. Also Hairy Wine is a great great song. Anyone else come around to Destroy All Human Life?

Haven't listened to it in over a year, but I do remember "Hairy Wine" as being my favourite.
Haven't heard the newish compilation though.

It's really worth getting in the double lp format if you can find it. Don't be put off by the stupid long title.

seven months pass...
So after running into him at a few shows, I've become friends with R0b3rt McN3il of the Teasers. He lives just a few blocks from me. Anyway, yesterday he hooked me up with two minidiscs of Teasers rarities and a collection of the Rebel (Ben Wallers' long-running solo project). Fucking amazing amazing amazing stuff. I can't get over this shit. And the new album is fantastic. "Deaths" on there is maybe the best Teasers song ever. I feel compelled to write thousands of words on them (and I plan to when I head to VA on vacation next week), as I just can't get over what they do lyrically and musically. Oh, and I've come to realize that they're totally Big Black!!! I dunno why I never thought of this before.

Oh, and Gareth, Robert's gonna hook me up with all the Male Nurse stuff, which I'm thrilled to finally hear.

Tracklisting for the Teasers MD he gave me:

Strickler's Lack Album by Country Teasers
1. Boycott the Studio (WNYU Session 8/02)
2. Henry Krinkle's Theme (Against Country Teasers EP)
3. Get Your Hole (Back to the Future CD)
4. Milkman (")
5. Let's Have a Shambles (")
6. Prettiest Slave on the Barge (WNYU Session) (this song is mindbendingly weird)
7. Blue Monday (New Order)(")
8. Untitled Track (aborted Fat Possum album 8/99)
9. Go Down Mighty Devil (Back to the Future)
10. Demon Eyes (SAME Double LP)
11. Trendy Mick Fleetwood's Fast Tail (")
12. Don't Touch Me (Tammy Wynette) (Aborted Fat Possom disc)
13. Julie Halard (SAME)
14. Moving to Florida (Butthole Surfers) (W??? radio session, 5/01)
15. Small Shark in Tiny Pool (aborted album)
16. Heavy Eyes (aborted album)
17. I Know My Name Is There (DS Warner) (Back to the Future)
18. Only a Woman (SAME)
19. Sickening Lack (SAME)
20. Hymn (Trad.) (aborted album)
21. Move Your Ass (W. Willis) (performed by Wesley Willis with his Country Teasers in the tour bus, 5/01)

Robert's given me the backstory on Ben's race fascination, his life story, etc., etc. Really, really interesting. I can't wait to write about all of this.

I can't believe how gorgeous this Rebel stuff is either.

a resounding dud. without a shadow of a doubt in the top 5 worst live bands i have ever had the misfortune to see.

Oh, and I've come to realize that they're totally Big Black!!!

ha ha! when i saw them the other week, several people commented to me that ben teaser looked just like steve albini circa big black. he did too - right down to the hat.

I've been pretty obsessed lately. anyone catching Wallers on this current US tour? and is it just he and a drum machine or is he rolling with a band? my job is being a dickhead and I'll probably miss him in Atl. hopefully I can get to NOLA tomorrow or Memphis next week.
