they are christianized weaklings, not even fit to lick my vomits.

baby cradle of chritian shits, more like.

Mr. Vas Djifrens (byzantum), Saturday, 12 November 2005 16:23 (eighteen years ago) link

For first thing, they have many gay melodies in their music, as well as structure and other weakling songwriting tendencies. For the second thing, they openly cavort their philosophy so as to appeal to females.

Janne Karlsson, Sunday, 13 November 2005 08:53 (eighteen years ago) link

Janne, it's been so long since you post, are you well?

mzui (mzui), Sunday, 13 November 2005 11:48 (eighteen years ago) link

I am sick with misanthropy. To exist is to be unwell. And you?

Janne Karlsson, Sunday, 13 November 2005 21:37 (eighteen years ago) link

Oh fair to middling, you know...

mzui (mzui), Sunday, 13 November 2005 21:51 (eighteen years ago) link

I look up this phrase (A strange expression indeed!) and it is so to mean: not bad, just OK, etc. This is how you are feeling?

Janne Karlsson (moley), Sunday, 13 November 2005 23:14 (eighteen years ago) link

I guess it is.

Better to have a sparrow in the hand than an eagle in the skies, as my bulgarian grandmother used to say...

mzui (mzui), Sunday, 13 November 2005 23:51 (eighteen years ago) link

Also, stare at a goose and you will no doubt be the one who honks tomorrow. Many times I have had the occasion of to ponder this wisdom.

Janne Karlsson (moley), Monday, 14 November 2005 00:20 (eighteen years ago) link

Yes, I have often considered that saying, an epithet for fans of the Greek (so called) 'True Metal' band Iced Earth.

mzui (mzui), Monday, 14 November 2005 00:30 (eighteen years ago) link

i have an epitaph for the fans of iced earth

Mr. Vas Djifrens (byzantum), Monday, 14 November 2005 01:40 (eighteen years ago) link

'they died as they lived-as christianizing pussys'

Mr. Vas Djifrens (byzantum), Monday, 14 November 2005 01:42 (eighteen years ago) link

Yes, and what is with it in the name of themselves. Iced Earth? They are some kind of sweet teacake, so we are to think? 'Please, Ripper and your friends, pass me an iced earth and perhaps also a sweet custard tart for it is high tea in the parlour of metal pussies!

Janne Karlsson (moley), Monday, 14 November 2005 02:24 (eighteen years ago) link

I couldn't agree more, their own coarse and uninformed model of Norse mythology backfires and becomes an idiomatic embarrassment that exposes their own willful goonishness, it cracks me!

Know they not that during the real third occurence of Fimbulvetr, Naglfar, the ship made out of dead men's nails, will carry the frost giants to the battlefield, Vigrid....

But that is for another time and place, just because we know eagles eat bagels, it doesn't necessarily mean beagles hate seagulls if you get my drift, Hoij!

mzui (mzui), Monday, 14 November 2005 04:12 (eighteen years ago) link

Yes, I have specific objection to Cradle of Filth melodies, some of which use hejaz and other Islamic-influenced musical scales. They think we do not notice this! Ha! We notice, Dani Filth, we hear it all. Of this black metal impurity I will only say this: when you sleep under the frostmoon, wholly unwatched are your carrots and your cabbages. No more than this need be said.

ten months pass...
search: the principles of evil made flesh
destroy: most everything else, crap live as well, the vocals were about 60 times louder than anything else in the mix

I once really pissed off a German by telling him Nightwish sounded a bit like Cradle of Filth.

chap who would dare to contain two ingredients. Tea and bags. (chap), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 13:49 (seventeen years ago) link

dani's description of a new meatloaf song in the newest decibel had my laughing up a storm! i'll type it out for you guys cuz i'm nice. the whole exchange is pretty funny:

filth: awful. this is like the music that would be on something like Save The Last Dance, that sort of film about a struggling black dancer in the heart of the Big Apple. and he meets this woman who trains him. this would be the bit where he's coming back to life in the spotlight. and he'd be in the spotlight, and he'd just be rehearsing...and he does these spins, and suddenly he'd spin around and there'd be a whole crowd of people.

allender: i only like the Bat Out Of Hell album. The first one.

filth: Shat Out Of Hell. that should be our next album, with just a huge anus on the cover, but like really, really worked up...pshhew. dragon bursting forth.

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 13:57 (seventeen years ago) link

hahaha, god, i love that. their whole call & response listening party section is hilarious.

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 13:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Hahah, brilliant.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 14:01 (seventeen years ago) link

awesome

one year passes...

'the black goddess rises' is a really good tune.

hard to tell how serious these guys were even way back then, but this tune is... competent and fun!

Charlie Howard, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 14:44 (sixteen years ago) link

I quite enjoy their cover of Heaven 17's "Temptation."

Alex in NYC, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 18:16 (sixteen years ago) link

"Competent and Fun" should be the name of their next album

latebloomer, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 19:04 (sixteen years ago) link

hahahah

Charlie Howard, Friday, 30 November 2007 04:55 (sixteen years ago) link

Cruelty and the Beast is the only one that engaged me all the way through.

That bizarre exchange from 2005 made this thread worth clicking on.

ultros ultros-ghali, Monday, 6 April 2015 20:00 (nine years ago) link

lol it kinda seemed like a satanic Monty Python sketch

Hammer Smashed Bagels, Monday, 6 April 2015 20:03 (nine years ago) link

Those guys are on other black metal threads somewhere. Really funny stuff.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Monday, 6 April 2015 21:09 (nine years ago) link

I like Vempire. so sue me

Hammer Smashed Bagels, Sunday, 12 April 2015 18:27 (nine years ago) link

Oh yeah it's the only CoF record that is worth holding on to. Does everything the band ever wanted to convey in a brief and intense thirty-odd minutes.

Siegbran, Sunday, 12 April 2015 18:46 (nine years ago) link

That 2005 conversation is exactly how I've always imagined It and All of Abruptum talk to each other.

Devilock, Sunday, 12 April 2015 22:11 (nine years ago) link

Tried to search their other conversation about their goth girlfriends called stuff like Morgana and Lilith, but no luck.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Sunday, 12 April 2015 22:58 (nine years ago) link

Janne Karlsson was obv moley/colin but I don't think I ever knew who Mr. Vas Djifrens was. Classic in any case.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Monday, 13 April 2015 00:04 (nine years ago) link

Oh thanks, great stuff.
