Gescom is problematic because some/most Gescom songs are produced by other Skam people, not necessarily Booth and Brown, although I have a feeling about B&B's involvement on Keynell 4.

this is not right - Gescom is booth and brown, no one else.

Id fill 80 minutes easily but i wouldnt put anything off the most recent 2 albums.

I did a minidisc of this for someone ages ago. Can't remember the exact tracklisting, but it had these choices in:

V-Proc
Pir
Cichli
Garbagemx36
Arch Carrier
Maphive 6.1
Krib
Netlon Sentinel
Milk DX
Rae
Gelk
eutow
Piezo

Probably a bit too long to fit on 80mins and I reckon there'd be more if I could fit it in - Vose In being one and maybe something off of Confield.

..actually i was wrong, of course. Booth and Brown for the core of Gescom with extra production from visiting artists.

I've never been that keen on the Gesom releases

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:41 (twenty years ago) link

nah me neither - thankfully some of the ones i have are worth quite a bit, so i'll probably get rid of them soon!

here goes mine - im ignoring the one track from each album rule since the last 2 cd's have done nothing for me (apart from give me a mild panic attack)

Dael
Vose in
Like A Motorway (Skin up, your already dead)
Under Boac
Brochusvnmx (off the Garbage ep)
Yulquen
GoSheep (Gescom)
Nine/Further
Flutter
Overand

..about 80 i think.

You can all send them to me.

I can judge them, hey?

Sasha (sgh), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:01 (twenty years ago) link

a mix of some ambient and "pop" stuff:

windwind

eggshell

foil

piezo (only last 3 minutes or so)

eutow

c/pach

rsdio

overand - and its cousin on amber, but I forget what it's called.

garbagemx36

vletrmx21

cichli

rae

arch carrier

krib

keynell 1 - love that double bass sound

are y are we - spooky minimal electro - the first three minutes or so is like their answer to plastikman's "plastique"

go sheep

go sumo - sweet electro, would love to hear them do more like this but of course that's not gonna happen. are they out of the dsp forest yet?

skin up youre already dead - amazing outro

Elliot (Elliot), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 03:00 (twenty years ago) link

seems some versions of "are y are we" floating on soulseek are misnamed.

Elliot (Elliot), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 03:06 (twenty years ago) link

ugh... and "we are r why" was ripped at the wrong speed. now I need to dig out the record.

Elliot (Elliot), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 03:08 (twenty years ago) link

love love love incunabula, basscad, amber, and the combined tri repete american cd

actually have copies of the seperate garbage and anvil vapre eps too. Just lost where they were going on the last few albums. One track I heard off the last album was pretty good but they lost momentum for me.

hector (hector), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 03:15 (twenty years ago) link

no love for pen expers?

that track is fucking intense.

todd swiss (eliti), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 03:24 (twenty years ago) link

Pen Expers is the best track on Confield, IMO.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 03:33 (twenty years ago) link

i probably would have liked it if I had sat through all of confield. I own it so I will probably go back and take a listen. I admired the sounds they produced on that album bu I really sensed little narritive. Maybe I am just to dense.

Their interview style in the last several years didn't really win them any points either. If they were so anti industry they should have just restrained from doing interviews rather than just being holier than thou pricks about everything.

I will repeat again though that I loved the above albums. Actually some of the first electronica I introduced my wife to that I got her to like and identify.

Sigh..
