Fun fact: Her solo debut, from 1984, was maybe the second or third album I ever reviewed for the Voice. Pretty hacky/inept (not to mention ambivalent) review too, iirc. (Didn't like any tracks as much as Yazoo's best singles, but didn't make much of an issue about it I don't think.) Maybe someday I'll dig it out and quote the worst parts here.

It's not a great album and certainly no patch on Yazoo's best.

"invisible" is a wonderful single

I will admit here that I thought she and Paul Young's cover of "That's The Way Love Is" at Live Aid totally worked.

Her thing with Tricky, 'Make a Change', puts her voice to fine use

she also wrote a good song with King Britt in 2001.

Always thought her album Hometime was a lost classic. In addition to the aforementioned "Do You Ever Wonder", this is also a gem:

So her new album The Minutes is really doing it for me right now!

Am listening to 'Whispering Your Name' for about the 30th time since I downloaded it off WINMX. Haunting blend of lyics, voice and dance-mix rhythm.
this. Like she's just WAAAAIIIIITING-GUH

New album Other sounds in spots like she's been listening to Roisin Murphy.

Other is fantastic, and even better than The Minutes ... one of those LP's from last year that I'm still playing the shit out of.

Also, it fucking sucks that in order to get to this thread via search, I have to wade through all those really shitty joke threads.
