Poing reached the number two position in the Dutch charts in '92. RTS discography.

It's listed in the 'CDs we suggest you buy' bit on the Go-Kart Mozart album inlay, I think Lawrence may have snuck it (or something very similar) underneath "Wear Your Foghat With Pride" on the same album.

I remember going into Street Sounds on Melrose when this came out. I literally heard three kids go up to DJ Barry Weaver who was sort of working there and each of them went up and said: "So dude, like there's this track that I'm looking for, and it's like this techno song and it goes like: 'Poing, Poing, Poing, Poing, Poing', disgusted, he would simply point to the row of Rotterdam Termination Source 12s that all had 'Poing' clearly written on them... Classic-ly annoying track!

Once heard, never forgotten, it made the UK top 30 too. I think it's sampled in the new song from Scooter (SCOOO-TAHHHH).

No, it's Maurice Steenbergen, but RTS was on the same label Rotterdam Records, with all the usual suspects of the early gabber years: Paul Elstak, Euromasters, Neophyte, Holy Noise, Hardliners, Lenny Dee, Sperminator.

I remember this tune. Had a mate who went on about this amazing song(we all knew he had dodgy taste) finally he played it to us and we all fell about laughing. Especially when he said here is the good bit and it was just the same as the rest of it.

I remember Steve Wright, when he was the breakfast DJ on Radio 1 just before Chris Evans, used to have an 'unsigned' spot, for bands to get their track played on-air. One day, it was the Rotterdam T/S, and "Poing".

The rest is history.

There's quite a few versions of "Poing".

The one under the YSI-link seems... funkier than the one I played incessantly summer of 1992. I think the 'Stuiterhouse' version is the one to get.
