that's tuff! i think Forte is a must, but I dunno about the rest.

Drama Mama's and Papa's too! (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 3 December 2009 22:33 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah tuff choices forte could easily go off for 28 yards on the ground and another 37 through the air!

One of the tools *I* look for in a wide receiver is the ability to catch footballs.

aarrissi-a-roni, Monday, 7 December 2009 01:40 (fourteen years ago) link

So...first week of fantasy playoffs. I'm the 8th seed squaring up against the 1st seed. He's 12-1 on the season. I finished 5-9 and somehow made it in. Still, my team is better than my record indicates.

QB BRADY (NE)
RB A. PETERSON (MIN)
RB L. MARONEY (NE)
RB J. JONES (SEA)
RB B. WELLS (ARI)
RB B. WESTBROOK (PHI)
WR R. MOSS (NE)
WR C. OCHOCINCO (CIN)
WR P. HARVIN (MIN)
WR P. GARCON (IND)
WR R. MEACHEM (NO)
TE J. FINLEY (GB)
TE F. DAVIS (WAS)
DST BILLS
K G. HARTLEY (NO)

We start one QB, two RBs, two WRs, one TE, one K & one flex offensive player (QB/RB/WR/TE).
So, here's my question: Who do I start at my flex? And who do I start at RB2? Maroney, Wells or Jones?

I'm leaning towards a lineup of Brady, Peterson, Maroney, Moss, Meachem, Harvin, Finley, Bills D & Hartley. Hate to relegate Garcon to the bench again after so many good fantasy performances in a row. I'm pretty certain about benching Ochocinco, despite his big game (it was against DET, after all). Other than last week, he's been pretty unspectacular. But do I play him or Garcon instead of one of my other WRs? Moss could put up huge numbers any week, but he's been fairly quiet. Meachem, Harvin and Garcon have all been hot for the past month. I seem to always pick the wrong guy in situations like this. Halp!

MikeJonze, Wednesday, 9 December 2009 14:50 (fourteen years ago) link

QB: Drew Brees
RB: Jerome Harrison
RB: Chris Brown (!!!)
WR: Mike Wallace (or Hines Ward, if he plays)
WR: Robert Meachem
TE: Antonio Gates
D/ST: either Titans (v. St. Louis) or Cardinals (v. San Fran). Probably Titans.

Injuries are absolutely killing me. I lost Ronnie Brown, I lost DeAngelo Williams, and now I'm losing Hines Ward. Fuck.

Mr. Snrub, Wednesday, 9 December 2009 15:02 (fourteen years ago) link

xpost - none of your choices for RB2 are v exciting. maroney was scoring well while the other ne backs were banged up but sammy morris took a lot of touches and a rush td of off him against miami. i would still probably go with him because carolina's run d is injured and leaky of late.

aarrissi-a-roni, Wednesday, 9 December 2009 15:04 (fourteen years ago) link

mr. snrub,
definitely go w/ TEN in that one. SF has a pretty good offense this year. so there's nobody better than mike wallace at wr in your league's free agent pool? i find that surprising.

MikeJonze, Wednesday, 9 December 2009 16:02 (fourteen years ago) link

Thanks, I'll go with TEN, then. Nope, nobody better than Mike Wallace. I'm in a 12-team league, and the top projected free agent WRs are Louis Murphy, Brian Hartline, Earl Bennett, Davone Bess, James Jones, and Mohammad Massaquoi. Yuck.

Mr. Snrub, Wednesday, 9 December 2009 18:34 (fourteen years ago) link

if he didn't have such a great matchup (cleveland), i would be tempted to go with bess instead. he also has a great matchup against jacksonville's soft secondary. however, if ward's out, that'll definitely help wallace get more passes thrown his way.

MikeJonze, Wednesday, 9 December 2009 18:59 (fourteen years ago) link

what i meant to say was if WALLACE didn't have such a great matchup...

MikeJonze, Wednesday, 9 December 2009 19:00 (fourteen years ago) link

Guys, I finished tied for 2nd place overall in my league this year, but because of horrific division rules, I'm not in the playoffs. This is ridiculous :'( Because of me they're eliminating all divisions for next year.

Mordy, Wednesday, 9 December 2009 19:12 (fourteen years ago) link

might as well go full retard and use a bowl system

bnw, Wednesday, 9 December 2009 19:37 (fourteen years ago) link

^^ roffle

my ten-team league: with one game left, only three teams are mathematically eliminated!

missed playoffs by .12 points. fuck my life.

bnw, Tuesday, 15 December 2009 04:53 (fourteen years ago) link

put up the second best point-total in my league by a wide margin... but got Rodgers'd out of the title game. in my meaningless consolation battle for third, which pair do I start out of Ricky Williams (vs. HOU), Jamaal Charles (@CIN), and Cedric Benson (vs. KC)?

all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Sunday, 27 December 2009 04:31 (fourteen years ago) link

damn

tbh i would go with williams and charles for the former's more consistent production and the latter's explosiveness. i think any two you choose will be ok in the end though.

A™ machine (sic) (omar little), Sunday, 27 December 2009 04:41 (fourteen years ago) link

that's my call too. i'm unsure about jamaal on the road, but CIN's stud NT is still out and if the bengals get up early LJ will be stealing touches. tempted to start charles and benson just to make the game more fun irl but fuck it i don't even care about winning any more and i love ricky.

all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Sunday, 27 December 2009 17:28 (fourteen years ago) link

more fun call: do i bench megatron in favor of josh cribbs? or maybe even hakeem nicks?

Didn't start Jerome Harrison last week. Fuck the world.

Didn't replace Stephen Jackson in time; didn't get a good game out of Drew Brees. Just take this pen and stab me in the heart.

Mr. Snrub, Sunday, 27 December 2009 22:40 (fourteen years ago) link

I swear to God I will never even THINK about drafting Drew Brees or any other quarterback until round three EVER AGAIN.

Mr. Snrub, Sunday, 27 December 2009 22:41 (fourteen years ago) link

seven months pass...

PPR league, snake draft and I'm drafting second. The guy drafting first already said he's going with Chris Johnson. That means I can either draft AP (super consistent excellent player in every way) or Ray Rice (also excellent plus tons of catches making him especially valuable in a PPR league). What do I do?

Mordy, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:07 (thirteen years ago) link

rice had 35 more receptions last year so what like 2 pts/week on catches? check the rest of your scoring and see if rice is really offering an appreciable advantage, because ap is the better player.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:11 (thirteen years ago) link

AP will be even better if Favre doesn't play, but yeah... I'd still pick AP.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:21 (thirteen years ago) link

What would they have given you in terms of total points in 2009 using your league's current settings?

no gut busting joke can change history (polyphonic), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:50 (thirteen years ago) link

Ray Rice did 326 and AP did 331. (MJD did 334 and CJ did 405)

Mordy, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:55 (thirteen years ago) link

Do you have a penalty for fumbles? I think there's a pretty good chance that AP will fumble less than he did last year.

no gut busting joke can change history (polyphonic), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:57 (thirteen years ago) link

or at the very least, he won't lose 6 of his 7 fumbles like he did last year.

no gut busting joke can change history (polyphonic), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:58 (thirteen years ago) link

Yes penalty for fumbles.

Mordy, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:59 (thirteen years ago) link

Ray Rice only had 8 touchdowns last year? Huh.

no gut busting joke can change history (polyphonic), Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:00 (thirteen years ago) link

I think I'd definitely go with AP now that I think about it.

no gut busting joke can change history (polyphonic), Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:00 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah

call all destroyer, Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:01 (thirteen years ago) link

rice is a good player but i wouldn't be surprised to see him regress

call all destroyer, Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:01 (thirteen years ago) link

Also, the Ravens will probably feature the passing game more heavily than last year now that they have Boldin and the rookie TEs, whereas the Vikings could hypothetically feature it less if Favre retires (lol).

no gut busting joke can change history (polyphonic), Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:02 (thirteen years ago) link

Now I've gotta figure out if I can take 2 WR's in 2nd + 3rd round (something like Steve Smith, DJax, Miles Austin, Colston range quality probably).

Mordy, Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:08 (thirteen years ago) link

should be fine--how big is the league?

call all destroyer, Thursday, 5 August 2010 01:20 (thirteen years ago) link

12 teams
